I think it's going to be several years at least before some one can string together enough high quality wins on the biggest stages to challenge Silva's GOAT status. GSP falling off the face of the earth for 2 years didn't help - it meant he wasn't consistently recording wins/title defenses. He's definitely got a chance to get back into the conversation with this fight though. Silva has been way more fun to watch as of late though.

I'm really disgusted Bonnar was popped for steroids after the Silva bout. wtf do these guys think? I guarantee if the punishment were more severe, 18-24 mos suspensions, some would reconsider and those who wouldn't might have their "careers" shortened to the point of retirement.

As the sport moves on and we're comparing Silva to an MMA elite 50 years into the future, then yeah it will be. Just as it is debatable whether Sugar Ray or Pacman is the GOAT boxer.

But with the sport having so little history to look back on, it can be safely said that Silva is GOAT.

With the Cheetos route at least it's less of a let down. Loved how much Chael talked saying it's all for nothing if he loses. Very powerful stuff but it's followed up by an unimpressive performance at best....

Then again Silva makes everyone look unimpressive.

Is GSP/Condit even worth watching?

GSP has to be a huge favorite and most of GSP's recent fights are him lying on top of people for 25 minutes and getting a UD win.

I think Condit has a good shot. Apparently a lot of money came in on Condit recently as well, as he's +220 at some books.

I really think reach is incredibly underrated in MMA and Condit is the first person GSP will fight who GSP does not have reach advantage against.

Condit's kicks give me a big advantage over anyone GSP has faced. Coupled with his length, Condit has to the tools to control distance. GSP's had that luxury in every fight. A large part of coming back from a torn ACL is mental, so I'd be surprised if GSP isn't slightly apprehensive if anything happens to his surgical leg.

Condit's trainers at Jackson's probably give me the insight in what he can and can't get away with vs GSP, wheras the Tri-Star guys probably don't know as much about Condit.
