Initially I assumed Rosenthal had missed the elbow or at least the severity of it and therefore didn't realize how bad a shape Munoz was already in before he hit the ground. I'd like to hear what he said about that. Otherwise that made Hendo-Bisbing look like childs play. Funny how Hendo got so much crap for that and no one has said a word about Wiedman there, instead blaming it all on the ref. Worst thing was watching the blood pool grow with every blow.

TUF: The Smashes

Aussie and UK fighters. Coaches will be Ross Pearson and George Sotiropoulos. How is this supposed to increase TUF ratings for FOX? Can't see the coaches being a Main Card event either w/o a ton of help on the card, or some outstanding TUF entrants on the show ffs. Plus, it'll have to have sub-titles like TUF: Brazil for us Yanks.

Yeah Weidman, should have just stopped. Like SHogun did when he just stood up after smashing Lyoto's face like 10 times.

That was a terrible job from the ref. When the guy goes limp they have to jump in.

Nowhere near as good as Marquardt/Woodley was. Jardine needs to hang it up imo.

i suppose this is the relevant one to bump:

151 cancelled cuz henderson got hurt and jones refuses to fight sonnen (only person willing to fight jones on 8 days of training)

Can't say I blame Jones for not taking the fight.

I've been reading about it because I find it curious that he's taking so much heat, but apparently they do stuff like this in MMA?

Whether he's shape or not, taking a fight against a guy you haven't trained for on one week's notice is a recipe for disaster.

All hail Sir Michael Bisping for taking on the Bad Guy on short notice who was also in training camp for a fight on the same card.

Taking the fight would have been stupid in that if Jones wins it proves nothing. He beat a guy who fights a weight class lower than him who wasnt in training for a fight. If he loses he loses the belt and probly commands less money for future fights and sponsorship.

There's only so many top guys White can **** on before something comes to a head with the UFC imo.

Taking a rematch and giving one month notice to a guy he already put to sleep proves nothing. He was already signed to fight an even older guy who fought a weight class below him. No casual fan cares that Chael hasn't been training and a hardcore follower knows Jones beats any contender right now anyway. He signed with Nike, he isn't going to be taking on smaller sponsors. He loses more by declining the fight in future negotiations and the "thank you" money for saving the event.

He just finished saying how Machida is not a draw yet poses the biggest threat for no real upside. Chael would bring more buys than Henderson and with almost no threat to him.

As much as I like Stann, he's going to get obliterated.

Can't say I like Bisping, but he's realllly grown on me over the years. Dudes the definition of a fighter.

I order in any UFC PPV that has a decent card or legit main event. I was gonna order this one and would have been more pumped for a Jones vs Sonnen if that was to replace Jones vs Henderson. I would have loved for that fight to go ahead, just pointing out why i think its a no brainer for Jones to turn down.

I also suspect Jones didnt expect Dana to throw him under the bus and say he refused the fight on 8 days notice.

I think that's pretty much the consensus at this point

Hater's hate was satisfied w/ the Hendo Forearm of Justice

Been earning cred ever since, the Sonnen loss more than anything else prbly

He trained for Bader and has one month until fight time. He also knows what he did wrong the first time, not sure if even fixing whatever that was would change anything.

Yeah he can outstrike Jones all day but once Jones closes the distance and gets a hold of him, Machida is going down and from there it's a disaster with Jones on top.

It's pretty much what happened with Ronda's last fight. Once she got inside, the fight was over. Before the mount even, you knew what the sequence of events was. Close the distance? Yes? Fight's over. Grab/take down/mount/armbar like it aint no thang.

Its not as bad as Rhonda, Machida can stop a takedown here and there and got back to his feet quickly, but yea you are more or less right, Jones will eventually get him down and his elbows are just to nasty, after he landed that bad one on Machida it was a different fight. Props to Machida for not going passive after that, he got sloppy but he attacked and went out on his shield trying.

From Sonnens facebook a half hour ago...

Quote:
I am no longer permitted to speak ill of the former champion Jon Jones as we have come to an agreement. I will stop tearing him down verbally and in exchange he has relinquished his belt to me. I would like to read a prepared statement from the former Champion.

Mr Sonnen,

In every mans life a choice must eventually be made. Run or fight. I said I wouldn't duck any man as champion. But you are no ordinary man. You've spoken nothing but truth in your attempt to gain a title fight with me. My last act of cowardness is to hand over what you would have beaten out of me 8 days from today. The UFC LHW Title. Now I must refocus my life. Good luck Champ.

Signed,

Jon Bones Jones

P.S. I just ordered your best selling book, A Voice of Reason from amazon, I've been told by Greg Jackson that it will help me get through this tough time. Thanks
I love this man.

Also, and more importantly, Jones v Belfort.

Whaaaaaaaaaa?

Jones breaks whoever he faces face either way. The roulette wheel has stopped and the unfortunate victim seems to be Vitor Belfort. For now, anyway.
