???? I thought he did ok with them. He held back on the one when tOSU picked up the personal foul. That changed the playclock from 40s to 25s, so he was right not to use it.

He should've used 1 the play before, but that's about all. Wasn't the worst he's done.

Did a quick breakdown of Illini win pct going for it versus kicking the FG on that 4th and 2 at the 17 with very generous estimates for FG side.
It's close, but about 2.5% win with FG try and 3% win with going for it.
I've seen much worse from the Zooker

Yeah, seems fine. Like the guy said, the Zook factor blinded him to it. All things considered, he had to be in the top 10% in playcalling on Saturday given how stupid most other coaches are.

falcons have 4th and goal on the 6, panthers call timeout as they have 12 men on the field. personally i'd have let them take the chip shot from three yards closer

Doesn't seem obviously wrong. There's easily time in the game for two SF possessions. It makes SF TD/DET FG worse for DET, but makes SF getting two FG better for DET. I would generally go for 1, but going for 2 is far from horrible, particularly if you think SF are going to suck in the red zone or something.
