Great effort, competitive score. I have no issue with the Stoinis catch being called not out. There was some doubt. Catching a millimetre off the ground should not be a tactic, to many fielders do it needlessly.

Afghanistan shows infinite more heart than England. They could win this and register their 5th win from 8 matches.

But Maxi can’t walk, he’s cramping badly, VERY badly. Might be best to just retire. As good as this is, the result is largely meaningless.

The only wc inning that comes close is Kapils 175 when India were 17-5. Although it’s hard to compare against higher leverage spots like finals/semis as this wasn’t a must win for Australia. But in a vacuum I think it’s the best

Perfect knock from Cummins in support. That is exactly what I would do and have done before when another player is going at the other end. Just hold up one end as the run rate with how Maxi was going was never going to be a problem even on one leg

After the World Cup, England go to the West Indies to play 8 white ball matches. Can they get some confidence ahead of a 5-Test tour to India in January?

I actually considered going to India for this. I enjoyed my time in India in 2017 for Australia’s tour and I’d like to go back some time.
