what was his avg in the Australia tests in 2019/2020 again? Doing it at home vs an avg Pakistan attack is not really noteworthy.

He had the flu in the 2nd test and ended up missing the 3rd match if I recall correctly. Everything went wrong for us on that tour... Sort of like Smith and Kohli recently...

His record in spite of that vs Aussie is respectable and will only get better. He has more than 1 hundred against everyone

tough to claim Kane's the best batsman in the world when he gets out for 238. a great batsman would have gone on with it!

Lol, I am so disappointed he has not managed to convert one of his doubles to a triple

41 is pretty pitiful. Certainly not best in the world material.

Yep averaging 41 against a particular nation or 2 disqualifies you from being the best, right?

Against Australia it does.

Still probably the best bowling attack. Paper thin batting

The challenge with insisting on Australia as the benchmark is that it favours Steve Smith over the other contenders because he never has to play against them

So what does it say if a batsman has a low average against an inferior side over a decent sample? Should that not disqualify them even more from being the best than having a low average against the best bowling attack?

Bowling wise though?

Lolstralia best bowling attack in the world can't bowl out a Kohliless India at home

If you had Kyle Jamieson you might have had a chance...

This result is bad for us getting in to the Test Champ final I believe dammit

The faster Paine goes, including as captain the better. Whether it is behind the stumps, batting or deciding to use the DRS we have better options out there.

Not just Kohliless India but also two injured players (Vihari could not run due to hamstring, Jadeja with a broken finger).
