I think there's some chance they get an agreement by then on the money split, but even then it'll take a few days to hash out the details on other stuff like revenue sharing and conference realignment. Once that's done the players will have to vote on the final deal. That's a lot in 9 days.

I'm assuming a new CBA is their definition of the lockout ending, not games starting, but even then it indeed seems like FREE MONEY.

The definition on bodog is when they sign the CBA, not start playing. But it's still not going to happen, and I'll gladly lose my bet if it does.

Absolute free money.
-400 now. The Sidney Crosby will play in europe in 2012-13 is at -120 both ways. There's no chance he actually plays there right due to cost of insurance?

And i thought bovada got shut down. Can US gamblers place bets tgere or is it in that quasi-legal purgatory like online poker way back?

Islanders... zoo!

Moving to Brooklyn in 2015.
Not sure if this is a good move or not. On the one hand, the Islanders just don't seem viable where they are, as Long Island seems tapped out as a hockey market and clearly doesn't want to pay for a new arena. On the other hand, they now have the smallest arena in the league (Barclays Center only holds 14,500 for hockey) and will have to battle the Rangers for fans even more than they did already.

I don't like the Crosby bet. It's a flip and that's a lot of juice.

Hopefully a few people got in at -300. I'd still bet it. Bob's line of -2000 seems about right. It'll be off the board soon I'm sure.

Since barclays was built as a basketball arena I'd imagine a third of the seats are horrible for viewing a hockey game.

It may not be a good move compared to building an appropriate facility on the Island (putting aside the whole Lighthouse development that apparently is never going to happen) ... but calling the Coliseum a ****hole is insulting to ****holes. They have to do something, and this is better than continuing to play in a facility that was outdated 20 years ago.

With all its shortcomings, Barclays is a way better option for isles than where they are now. Ainec.

Playing in Brooklyn gives them a bit of a coolness factor somewhat similar to the Nets in the NBA. And less seating is partly overcome by the luxury suites and all that other stuff they don't have going for them at Nassau.

I suspect they will change their name as well. Bring back the Brooklyn Americans!! ...real NHL team for one season...formerly the NY Americans...called themselves Brooklyn Americans even though they weren't actually playing in Brooklyn.

Long Island is not a bad hockey market - not a great one, but not a bad one - but they have had a bad hockey team for too long. They haven't won a playoff round in 20 [censored] years. I don't get when people are confused that fans stay away when the team sucks. That's how it's supposed to work.

Also changing their name would be a bad move. It's not like they are anticipating finding a new fanbase. They're still on Long Island. No reason to change.

Yeah, wasn't aware that Brooklyn is technically still on Long Island. Meh, whatever.

I actually DO think they are looking for a new fanbase in Brooklyn. Coolness factor, etc. Just like the Nets really.

And it's not just because the team has been sucky that their attendance is awful. The venue sucks too. And their fan-base just isn't that great.

Geez, how much of their attendance is there solely to cheer for the opposing team? NYI plays Philly or Boston or even Pittsburgh and I think the majority of the fans are cheering for the other team. And even with that boost from the regional teams bringing their own fans, the attendance is still worse than it should be.

Their fan base isn't great because the team and building are terrible. They've been to the playoffs 3 times since 1994.

If they're looking for a new fanbase in Brooklyn, they won't get it, same as the Nets. Basketball has an inherent coolness factor, hockey has the opposite - it's white and lame as all get out. Still, anything is better than the Mausoleum.

Senor - I'm an American. You go to the bovada.lv site and you place the bet. It is not a blocked site. And yes, it appears those NHL props have been taken down.

Rochester "home" game in Buffalo last night drew 11,000 fans. Pretty small turnout considering it's practically their lone pro-hockey opportunity at their NHL arena for some time (we assume). Plus, Rochester has some pretty good players on their team: Cory Hodgson, Luke Adam, Marcus Foligno. Plus, they were playing Hamilton/Montreal.

Some of these other AHL teams when they play their single game in an NHL venue will be sold out or close to it....especially if the lockout is still ongoing. That includes Washington, Philadelphia (not until February though), Minnesota, Ottawa, Montreal.

Really surprised Buffalo didn't draw a bit better for that...but maybe ticket prices were terrible or something.

rochester is close to buffalo. where is the novelty? with philadelphia, washington, and minnesota, their AHL teams are a good ways away from where their NHL team is.

yeah looks pretty good considering the league is now at the point where they're pretending that they don't care if this gets settled or not, and doesn't want to meet with the PA. "we rejected your 3 proposals in 10 minutes, and you rejected our proposal, so what do we have to talk about?"

WHO WILL BLINK AND MAKE THE NEXT PROPOSAL!?!

of course, a meeting like this that the PA suggested could go a long way to maybe working through this BS, and allowing whoever to save face as they work towards an agreement. but oh no, we have to play this stupid game bc the owners can't get their best deal out of the players until they have the threat of dumping an entire season worth of salaries, and the owners don't gaf about losing games before Xmas.

yay!

The novelty is that it's a game at the NHL venue.

Philly and Minnesota would absolutely do better than that even if their AHL venue were only 80 miles away. Washington I believe will as well...and their AHL club in Hershey is only 2.5 hours away.

I think this game will be the lowest attendance of the NHL-venue games this year with the possible exception of the one in Raleigh...and even if it is geography related, it's still a pretty disappointing turnout.
