In a game full of head butts, kicks to the head, wrongly given penalties and incredibly bad referring decisions, this seems like an incredibly strange, and somewhat pathetic, thing to get disgusted about.

Geiger's just a dog**** ref always has been.

Also England prob had 3 legit peno shouts and only got one. Outside of that they were the slightly better team but not by a whole lot. Colombia made sure to muck up the game as much as possible. Thought the better team on the day went through.

Think they should wreck Sweden.

Destroying the spot is 100% hilarious and what the World Cup is all about.

Remember Marvin Hitz doing that in a recent (last or 2nd to last) Bundesliga season. Think he got suspended for it after the fact, too. And rightrfully so.

If I remember rightly some Australians did the equivalent in cricket recently and got barred for life more or less.

The cricket equivalent of the cheating Colombians would be Pakistan.
Fielder plants his studded boot on the pitch and then pirouettes in an attempt to rough up the pitch for his spinners. Shahid Afridi caught ball tampering by attempting to bite the ball.

I do have to admit that expressing outrage over an opponent scuffing the pitch while ignoring the fact your player intentionally kicked someone in the head is so quintessentially British that it deserves some kind of recognition.

Cant believe one of the thugs was digging up the pen spot. Pretty funny really. Well can laugh now but wouldn't have been so funny for English fans if Kane had missed the pen and lost.

Wait, somebody scruffed up the spot one of his opponents was standing around on for hours on end doing nothing? And he got banned for that?

LÖL Cricket.

think its a combo of colombians being apoplectic with rage about the easiest path to the final being ripped away via extreme brave englishness (and being unable to process their feelings in a reasonable way), + a high profile coked up fat lad that has no idea which way is up getting involved (no prizes..)

feeling quite relaxed about this sweden game. if we bollocks it up i dont think i'll feel too terrible

this is in stark contrast to the colombia game, where a loss would've been defcon 1

maybe will feel different closer to kick off

Well you can always soothe yourself by thinking about Zlatan and his even greater rustling. The lawnmower would practically be in another galaxy.

It's coming home boom-bust cycle has now passed peak-boom. The decline has now reached the emotional hedging stage.

Nah, having won a penalty shoot out and having played somewhere around expectation and reached a QF means that this WC has already delivered.

From now on its just gravy.

When we do win this it'll be the pluckiest display by a team that delivers some decent set pieces but little else since Greece shipped the Euros. We do have a marginally better centre forward than they did though.
