You flat called preflop. You should shove pre or fold.

not imo. ok I was thinking its a min raise but only just over. OTB especially your better to see the flop before committing it all imo.

although other times your right esp if OR is not a nit 3 bet hoping to get iso'd but more often than not they will both flat anyway and if OR does have aces well we are in worst shape anyway.

But as I admitted the flop was really marginal and it's probably a chk/fold.

Your hand plays much better HU then 3-way and you're almost never going to flop something good enough to go with.

Stek is right, ship or fold pre flop, and fold is probably the best play.

i agree it plays better HU and i did imply that when said i would want to get iso'd but too often OTB it's going to go flat flat

but as i said in previous post normally i would agree for sure.

Hero turbo folds and smacks his head against the desk for calling this pre even with a discount.

You flat.... and what do you do on the turn?

You shove....he bet folds that flop?

You fold....and don't piss away your stack in a bad spot.

Yes but how are you going to play any turn that doesn't pair the board? You'd be guessing all the way, usually having to fold.

Have you done an equity sim against his theoretical range for all turn cards?

Unless you're fascinated by the subject material, it usually takes time to build up stamina to study. It's a matter of acquiring a type of self discipline.

You can't expect someone who isn't used to spending more than fifteen minutes per day studying to suddenly study for five hours each day. It's just not realistic.

I had poor study habits in high school. Consequently when I was a freshman in college, studying for half an hour per day was an ordeal for me. But by the time I was in grad school, I had gradually built up to studying five or so hours each day, and it was fine. More than tolerating studying, I gained satisfaction from studying.

And those study skills served me well in my chosen career. I was continually learning new stuff. And then when I retired and started serious (but still recreational) poker, those study skills still served me well. Or maybe just call it self discipline.

The way you can get it is by extending yourself just an extra minute or two each week. As you get accustomed to studying, you can gradually do it for longer and longer periods of time.

Quit before it's overwhelming. And highlight with a yellow highlighter. You have to read a paragraph to get it into your consciousness what the paragraph says. Then go back and highlight the key phrase (or two) in the paragraph. Be careful not to highlight too much... just what is necessary. If what is really necessary is not clear to you, read the paragraph over again to decide.

Another trick is to write down in a notebook that which you don't understand. Then copy into a second notebook that which you copied into the first notebook but didn't understand. Then use a third notebook. It's learning more or less by "rote," but it works well for some very intelligent individuals, people you wouldn't think would need to learn by rote. It's a matter of forcing yourself to concentrate on the subject matter.

Enough of the study skill stuff.

    Buzz
Ay ay sir, reading it from cover to cover

I'll make the notes in my bloody mind

Thanks Buzz, I like your effort, seriously!

Maybe already studied a bit too much in my life. Now I'm after the shortcut to a win

You are essentially flipping against any random A2** on the flop so yes we are likely behind his theoretical range. I would fold flop.

    Whatever happened to http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/members/117534/ ???

He got an acknowledgement in the Dan Deppen book (extended version). Was it really him?

Lucius, if you have changed your SN, please tell...

And while we are into it, where's Wackjob? Did he really disappear as the Black Friday stroke?

With this kind of manfall, I'm close to start feeling as a survivor...
