I never know whether to take you seriously. Bill Maher doesn't make anti-woman rants.

Second, his show is not advertiser supported at all so he's not feeling anything.

Wow. That is amazing. Its hard to imagine they are really this out of touch. Also hard to imagine they're not trying to self immolate.

It will be interesting to see the local republicans defend this.

Ever hear of HBO subscribers?

not just individuals.

Think of the corporate subscribers like hotel and motel chains and franchisees.

the money always comes from the users one way or another.

Only if you don't consider conservative women to be women, which is what liberals seem to believe, or at least act like they believe.

Yeah, we'll see the end of HBO anytime now.

There's a difference between attacking an entire gender and specifically attacking individuals.

OTOH, like, a good population of the forum believes that an employer should be able to fire any employee at any time for any reason unless there's some clause in the contract, so I expect the some reaction to this bill to be exactly the same as it was to employers denying coverage for birth control: employers should be able to screw over their employees in any way they want, employees can find another job, the market will work it out for them.

Limbaugh attacked an individual political activist, so he's in the same category as Bill Maher.
03-14-2012 , 01:23 PM
Also, this thread title is completely factual. I have no idea what adios's problem is.

only if you take his joke literally.

In other news, Jonathan Swift advocates the selling of poor children as food to the rich. New thread to follow...

So Rush Limbaugh was making fun of conservatives?

Satire is generally not at the expense of your own beliefs, though hilariously Rush trots out the "I was just joking around" act every time he goes too far. Hiding behind being a comedian just like that Jon Stewart fellow.
03-14-2012 , 01:45 PM
Yeah, it would be satire if Jonathan P. Wookie were to state satirically something about women on contraceptives needing to provide sex tapes to illustrate the opposite: how contraception should be covered. It's not satire when you're taking your own beliefs too far.
03-14-2012 , 01:45 PM
BTW, Boa, does Fluke even use contraception?

Liberals don't seem to believe that except to completely delusional people who listen to closely to Limbaugh and friends.

Maher has attacked individual people. He has never attacked them for being woman.

Its sad the people who can't make the distinction.

What's different about Limbaugh did, what upset people, is that the specific things he said about this woman was insulting to most women since nearly all women use birthcontrol.
03-14-2012 , 01:51 PM
who cares?

She wants to get the taxpayers or the premium payers to pay for new things by force of government authority. It is part of the entitlement mindset that has swamped our government in debt and is hurting our economy.

Keep you eye on the ball that really matters.

Do you have some statistic that shows HBO lost subscribers because of Bill Maher? I know HBO has been losing subscribers for the last couple of years due largely to their carriage negotiations with Direct TV as well as people switching to cheaper digital based platforms.

Me thinks you're just making stuff up.

I was wondering earlier if you were able to distinguish why the content of one attack might be perceived differently then another.

Clearly not.

You don't get it. Maher used insults that are insulting to most women too. You just pretend it doesn't matter because you don't like the person he insulted.

Limbaugh's target was a public figure too, a political activist, someone demanding more money from taxpayers to suit her preferences. But because she is not someone you dislike, you pretend he is insulting all women instead.
03-14-2012 , 02:04 PM
LOL, Boa gets this stuff straight from Fox News. Rush is under fire? Quick, deflect! BILL MAHER DOES THE SAME THING SO LDO IT'S OKAY!

Spoiler:
LOL MILLIONS OF PEOPLE DON'T WATCH BILL MAHER

LOL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSMEN DON'T GO ON THE FLOOR OF THE HOUSE TO MAKE TRIBUTES TO BILL MAHER

Spoiler:
LOL BOA

New things? The vast majority of insurance programs have been paying for these for years. Its not new. You know this 2012, right?

Ummm.... no it isn't. While this is clearly falling on deaf ears, the reason most insurance companies support paying for birth control is because birth control is substantially cheaper then birth. NOT paying for birth control will be more costly to insurance companies then if they do.

So wrong again.
