The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Harm to Ongoing Matter The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Harm to Ongoing Matter

I'll predict Trump goes off script tonight and brings up the national emergency scenario but doesn't actually declare it. "People are saying I could declare a national emergency, I have the power to do it."

the qualifier "to be fair" lends a presupposition of legitimacy to the following statement as a contradiction/refutation of something said previously

If the networks even give them the time, one problem with Schumer/Pelosi doing Trump response is they don't have it in their range to call him a mother****er.

US House sues immediately, right? Dems control it and he'd be usurping their power of the purse.

I assume California leads the charge in the Ninth Circuit, and New Mexico might wait a day or two to allow that. Ninth Circuit likely immediately orders Trump to stop while the courts hear the case. I would imagine it would then be fast tracked to SCOTUS?

My guess, and maybe I'm being really naive here, would be that Roberts would choose the case that makes it the easiest to rule against Trump with the least partisanship, because he cares about his legacy and the court's standing in the eyes of the American public. My guess is that either 6 or 7 justices would rule against Trump (Liberals, Roberts, Alito and/or Gorsuch). But again, maybe I'm being really naive?

The thing is, I could easily see Trump pulling an Andrew Jackson and telling the Supreme Court to go ahead and try to enforce their ruling, then ordering DoD again to build the wall. From there, the chaos would be insane.
If he declares a SOE then what's to stop him from arresting the heads of government in CA and NM and imprisoning them 'until the crisis is over'?

Spoiler:
Nothing.

Ya Schumer/Pelosi doing the response is not good. Dems gonna Dem though.
01-08-2019 , 01:59 PM
Response better have lots of "Trump said X. That is a lie. Trump said Y. That is a lie. Trump said Z. That's the biggest lie of all the ones he told."

Of course then when Schumosi have a single digit wrong in their rebuttal, the media will BOTH SIDES it all day tomorrow and make them out to be as inaccurate as Trump. Did the Democrats' immigration response just help Trump's re-election chances?, by Chris Cillizza.

I assume by interesting you mean impossible to read due to the shear level of stupidity.

Yeah, this. Like anyone, his supporters included, don't know he's FOS. Supporters don't care, detractors already know.

The Democrats are building their own wall. It’s a growing wall of big government statism, endless war, globalism, and higher taxes that race toward socialism.

It’s a wall that blocks us from our liberties including our right to own a gun and the right to engage in free speech. It’s a wall that censors and controls minds by means of lying, fake news corporate media. It’s a wall that protects a massively corrupt Deep State from receiving justice.

Nancy Pelosi, tear down your despicable, fascist, blue wall and allow our president to construct a legitimate one along our southern border. We need a wall that protects us from an endless stream of illegal aliens coming here for free stuff as well as criminals and terrorists who come in to wreak havoc on us all.
So... not really a wall then?

Veselnitskaya, Russian in Trump Tower Meeting, Is Charged in Case That Shows Kremlin Ties
The money-laundering case was not directly related to the Trump Tower meeting. But a federal indictment returned in Manhattan seemed to confirm that Ms. Veselnitskaya had deep ties to senior Russian government officials.

The charges stem from the Justice Department’s 2013 civil investigation into the role that some of Ms. Veselnitskaya’s clients — Prevezon Holdings Ltd. and its owner, Denis P. Katsyv — played in a scheme to launder ill-gotten money through New York real estate purchases.

...

The indictment says Ms. Veselnitskaya secretly cooperated with a senior Russian prosecutor in drafting the “intentionally misleading” response, then filed it in federal court in Manhattan.

“In doing so, Veselnitskaya obstructed the civil proceeding,” the indictment said. She is charged with one count of obstruction of justice.
