Are Jews now a race? ****. Nobody tell any of these guys.

I was describing South Africa during apartheid? What in the world are you talking about?

You weren't trying to draw an analogy between racial apartheid in South Africa and the current situation? Carry on then.
08-27-2014 , 09:40 AM
Of course I was. An analogy doesn't require every aspect of the situations to be exactly similar.

Both sides would be to blame, in that scenario, as they are here. However, that does mean having a policy of killing everyone of a particular religion (or race, in your example) isn't a demonstrably worse policy than whatever discrimination and racism that may exist in the other one. Both are bad, clearly, but you can't equate the two, IMO.

Uh, it's kind of important that the fundamental issue of apartheid - by definition, separateness based on race - be similar. Otherwise, you're just awkwardly shoehorning one country (Israel) into a conceptual framework for the purposes of demonizing it.

But you can say that one wrong is a reaction to another wrong. No matter what sort of violence the ANC used, it was a reaction to and a struggle against the South African systematic oppression. No matter how violent the ANC reaction was, it can never be used to justify the South African society, which is the root cause for the entire problem.

Regardless of what you believe is the root cause for these things, I don't believe violence is ever justified in these situations because it doesn't solve anything. Violence is EXACTLY what is holding the Palestinians back from getting what they need and deserve.

Again, just my opinion.

Actually not just your, I remember a quote from along time ago by Peres:
"The Arabs began to understand that it is not poverty creating terror, but terror creating poverty. They are the victims of their own errors."

Not with guys like Sharon or Netanyahu in charge. Do you really think that guys like that would have ever given the Palestinians a real state no matter how peaceful they were?

Do you think Rabin would have allowed a state?
08-27-2014 , 10:25 AM
I doubt it, but the chances were certainly much better than with Sharon and Netanyahu

They wouldn't remain in power for very long if they didn't.

One of the problems is that Gaza is effectively under Israeli control, and the economic chances of Gazans are not as good as those of Israels.

Have you ever been to Gaza?

There have been Jews in Gaza fwiw, some Israeli Jews join Gazans for protests against Israel.

A Jew walks into gaza and might get beat up?

I could not stop laughing for 5 minutes

If a Jew walks in gaza, he is not getting out, and he is not gonna die a good short death.

You might at well just start making fun of Gazans/Muslims for how they dress, much like how we have folks who poke fun at Jewish men for the hat they wear, among other things Jews do.

Sasha, Have you ever been to Gaza?

Not to mention, can an Israeli enter Gaza without Hassle from the Israel/Gazan gov? Can a Gazan enter Israel without hassle from the Gazan or Israel gov?

Also, and this is important, How do the Gazans civilians even know who a Jew is, or what a Jew looks like? Its one thing for a foreign tourist from Europe or the West to be in Gaza, they might stand out. But if there is an Israeli Jew in Gaza who was born in mandate Palestine or even Israel, there is a decent chance he looks similar to the Gazans or Palestinians. The Gazans and Israels often look similar, keep this in mind.

And besides, what is the point of this line of questioning. Are folks like champstark and you trying to suggest that Gazans are not as moral as Israelis by suggesting that a Jew is going to get attacked in Gaza just for being a Jew(and again how in the world is a Gazan to know who a Jew is)?

Holy Hannah, I don't even know what to say

For myself, I don't say anything but will .

This derail is stupid but predictable, I guess. No bombs for now but ppl can't stop posting until we see if the cease fire holds and if Israel and Egypt do what they say. So that would mean leaving this thread alone for a bit but I guess some ppl just have to wind down slowly.

Nope. You don't get to conflate racism with genocide and lump them together as if they're one in the same and then get to post every vile thing someone said about Arabs in Israel and say, look, Israel wants to commit genocide!

But do you know what really tends to hold people back from getting what they need? Blockades. Blockades tend to be highly effective at blocking.

Now the blockades were in place while Hamas observed the ceasefire. So I'm going to stick with the blockade as the thing holding back...

What happened here? Did they exceed their baby kills quota for the day and it's time to celebrate the blown up Palestinian babies? What is that dance there? the razed nursery jig?

Norman Finkelstein used to go into Gaza all the time before Israel banned him. He was embraced.

Yeah but he's a race traitor

I agree with your point. 20,000 Jews (among others) just walked into Gaza for a few weeks and did their jobs perfectly fine.
