a gift is something you get for free without doing anything special for it

so in this case, it's definitely a gift

All those clueless kids in our public schools do not know any better one way or the other. They think that this award is actually merit based and given to the person who most deserves it.

I don't know you, but I can honestly say that you deserved it more than Obama.

If for no other reason than as a rejection of the hawkish "might is right" "our military is bigger than yours, so you have to listen to us." mentality that America has been dealing with the rest of the world with. I applaud Obama's selection.
Obama's selection supports this, not rejects it. He's just as bad as any of them.

Obama won this award in great part, won the presidency of the United States, had hundreds of thousands of people around the world come to hear him speak and had people crying hearing his words because he is different than the norm.
No, he's exactly the same as the norm. People are just idiotic and buy politicians' B.S. over and over despite being burned a thousand times.

He conveyes a message of hope and peace that has not been heard from a President in my lifetime and people's hearts and minds (millions of us anyways) embrace such a message, plus the fact that he is in a position to make his message and vision a reality..... well you have it....
He conveys a message of hope and peace by engaging in multiple wars? Interesting. Oh wait, people don't actually pay attention to what he does, just to the lies he tells them. Got it.

And when you have a war with another planetoid it is natural for all the people of this planet to unite in peace, just like in the movies.

Hard to say. People can maintain levels in political forums for years. PVN, for example, is actually a communist.

Harder how? Obviously, this award means that increasing military support for invasions of Afghanistan is pro-peace, so I expect Obama to double the troops over there in the next few months. Heck, he'll probably implement a draft.

Because he's not.

Some of the things Barack Obama has done to promote peace:
  • Withdraw troops from Iraqi cities.
  • Begin closing Guantanamo and implement additional protections for detainees.
  • The accident of his skin color promotes racial harmony domestically.
  • Nuclear non-proliferation work as a Senator
  • Ordered troops out of Iraqi cities, which will lead to withdrawl
  • His Cairo speech was the first attempt to bridge the transcendent conflict of the post-Cold War era.

So yes, Barack Obama is a peacemaker and your characterization of him as a war mongerer is false.

I have read it. It says that he deserves a NPP for talking about nuclear disarmament.

Let's recap:

Talk about nuclear disarmament + Order thousands more troops to a warzone = for peace

Maybe PETA should give a Puppy Saver Award to someone who gives nice talks about promoting veganism and drowns a few hundred puppies for kicks. After all, he's talking about saving animals!
