Alabama Special Election (Roy Moore diddles, GOP thumbs up, Mr. Jones goes to Washington) Alabama Special Election (Roy Moore diddles, GOP thumbs up, Mr. Jones goes to Washington)

First this in AL.

And this in VA.

After certifying the recount yesterday giving the D a one vote win, they found another ballot they denatured for his and decided to count. It looks like they are now going to literally draw our of a hat for the seat. The ballot in convention has both circles filled but a slash through the D. But also had both governor circles filled and an X through the R.

Hopefully we can maintain some semblance of a democracy through 2018. Between gerrymandering, voter suppression, rulings like these, etc, it looks like that might be the last chance
to defend democracy.

This doesn't seem like an egregiously terrible ruling to me. ANd the ballot did not have "both governor circles filled in".

After reading more, I think the VA ruling is justifiable.

Me too. The VA vote counter handbook or whatever its called has all kinds of crazy examples of strangely marked ballots that count. This one seems fine given what the handbook says is acceptable.
12-20-2017 , 08:24 PM
Sure, but then I'd want to see the ballots that were thrown out.
12-21-2017 , 05:03 PM
The real scandal in VA is that other district that was decided by < 100 and 147 people were given the wrong ballot (and thus not allowed to vote). It's headed for court now.

^^^ for those who don't remember, this is how Bibi Net and Yahoo whipped people to the polls in his election, only he used the term "Arabs."

When do we see this headline:

***ROY MOORE CONTENDS VOTE TALLIES OFF BY UP TO 2/5ths IN CERTAIN DISTRICTS***

Last edited by TheMadcap; 12-21-2017 at 05:37 PM. Reason: 2/5ths > 40%

Roy Moore is in deep deep denial ... There's one individual hoping and praying that "Judge Moore" never runs for elective office again: Sassy the horse!

Ive always really enjoyed this article from Progressive Boink about the gif.

This passage about **** you guy.

"Severino had worked as a stevedore for going on 15 years when he fell and broke his back in '98. Thank god for the union, he was fond of saying, or I'd be out on my ass right now. He sat out for a long two years, laid up, getting heavier and more depressed.

He finally got back to work in late 2000, resigned to working in the office job they'd set aside for him and hobbling around the docks from time to time, supervising. Like some kind of ****in gimp, he'd mutter to himself and shake his head in frustration, wiping sweat from his brow with the sleeve of his overcoat. He felt like he'd let himself go but couldn't work up any motivation to do much besides lay down with a beer and watch the tube after work. He and his wife, Anne, were both deeply unhappy, but he didn't have any idea what to do.

In October of 2001, just after life seemed to be getting back to normal in America, Anne told him she was leaving him. Life's just too short, she said. He couldn't blame her one bit.

Sevy spent a lot of the next decade staring into the middle distance at work and watching TV with the lights off at home. Before he knew it, he was in his 50s.

In 2009, he rekindled his dormant and deep-seeded love for the Yankees. He followed the whole season, from Spring Training to the glorious World Series win. Baseball brought him back from the brink, gave him hope. From 2009 forward, Sevy spent a lot of time attending games in the Bronx. But he was always self-conscious, always uncomfortable. He always kept to himself.

So on that day in 2011, when Robinson Cano hit a home run into the seat just in front of him, he stood up in disbelief. Nelson Cruz was on the field and throwing a tantrum. As Cruz locked eyes with him for a split second, Sevy felt something come loose inside him.

"**** YOU," Sevy hollered. "**** YOU. FUUUCK YOU. **** YOU. **** YOU." The phrase tumbled out of him, again and again, into the chilly night air. Sevy released the last 10-plus years of pain and uselessness and self-hatred. "**** YOU. **** YOU. FUUUUCK YOU." He couldn't stop. The words were setting him free.

When Sevy finally sat down, he felt lighter. The game rushed by in front of him and it hardly registered when the Yanks lost at the end. As Sevy trudged back to the subway, he still felt that lightness. He ran the moment over and over again in his head, just as he had been doing for hours.

**** YOU, broken back. **** YOU, depression. **** YOU, self-doubt. **** YOU, self-pity. FUUUUCK YOU, loneliness.

The doors to the subway closed behind him. Sevy smiled."

lol this argument is silly. He lost to a democrat in the top five reddest state in the country. He's not winning another election.

Right. He lost to a democrat in a top 5 reddest state at a time when dems have the highest generic ballot advantage in history. He barely lost and was a favorite going in. So he’s probably not drawing dead in say the reddest district in a top 5 reddest state going forward. Of course not a favorite, but somebody retires and he’s in the mix if he wants it.

He's not going to be running against a Dem in the primary and presumably his primary opponent will not be a pedophile.
12-24-2017 , 04:18 PM
Yeah I don't understand how supposedly intelligent people who have been posting in a politics forum for decades don't understand that primaries are a thing

His opponent is going to be a pro gay, pro Sharia law, anti 10 commandments RINO. I’m not saying he is going to win, but that the reddest parts of Alabama may prefer a true deplorable, who was a victim of MSM lies, is not inconceivable.
