As for societal conventions, what's wrong w/ that? I mean, it's a societal convention that 15-20% is a good tip on dinner service. It's a convention that you tip like 5 bucks on a haircut. And you tip a dollar per drink. I'm sorry if cheap people don't like it, but there it is, and it's probably good that you're finding out now that every bartender in the world thinks you're a cheapskate loser when you leave silver.
If you're arguing whether it should be a dollar a drink, that's a different story.
Yeah, I'm a 22 year-old poker shut in who has no idea how true adults behave. This coming from a person who's life ambition is to be a server who complains about how cheap people are? Let me guess, your art history degree isn't opening all the doors you thought it would? I'll stick to what I've been doing, but what do I know I'm just a 22 year old cs ph.d student/poker player who most likely makes more than triple what you do in a year playing part time. And I guarantee you I spend at least your salary on drinks/tips when I go out.

Very good point. I didn't force you to become a waiter, if you don't like the tips find a new job.

Thank you. I agree completely.
P.S. You fail for fluff-and-fold. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming where you live you can't have a washing machine/dryer, but you're unnecessarily spending almost double weekly. Some families need that extra $8 to live on, so **** you, you condescending douche.
