Poker staking update... To recap, staked buddy in tournament, final table chopped and he reported he won ~25% less than what was published.

Told buddy about discrepancy in published win vs. his stated win and his response was surprise and that they computed the split via an ICM calculation based on chip stacks and the published results were wrong. He then called the poker room to ask what happened and their response was basically, "we publish what the tourney staff gives us." which be both found unsatisfactory. He then emailed the tournament director directly and hasn't heard back yet.

He seems genuinely confused about the discrepancy so I'm feeling like I'll let the whole thing slide. My rough calculation based on what first place got and what he got makes sense as he was short stack at the time of the chop and would have gotten the smallest amount of the split.

My Spotify DJ attempted to push The Steve Miller Band's "The Joker" on me this morning, apparently mistaking me for the ridiculously large number of plebs who decided to like that song and make it a hit that I will somehow never fully escape until I'm deep in the cold cold ground.

There is no less deserving song to seemingly gain permanent entry into the all-time classic rock pantheon. Big thank you to everyone who enabled this.

This is not the first time LKJ has **** on Steve Miller.

Flash back to the late 80's. Steve Miller has released an album of new age jazz, and is on tour. Do you go? Of course you do! You're 19ish, only listen to classic rock radio (which is promoting the **** out of the show) because you have zero taste, and assume it'll be AWESOME! (Ron Howard voice: It wasn't.)

Fast forward 3-4 years. Steve Miller Band opens 3 nights of the Grateful Dead in Las Vegas (all summer tour, but I had limited resources to tour across country). 2nd year of the Dead at Sam Boyd Silver Bowl (Santana opened 1st year's shows). It was pretty pretty good. Stevie sat in with the Dead on one or more of their more straightforward rockers (maybe a cover?) Wang Dang Doodle comes to mind but could be the manifestation of prior hallucination. I digress. Where was I? Oh, yeah.

Heading to Vegas for a couple of nights. Going to see the Hold Steady w/Built to Spill. Should be a hoot.
