Turned out it was three Maniacs, two Sixpence, and three randos. Having Leigh Nash singing was a pleasant surprise. Her voice has gotten pretty husky over the years, so she did a great job on the 10,000 Maniacs songs, but the Sixpence None the Richer songs sounded very different. Good, but kind of like KD Lang might sing them

I saw the post Natalie Maniacs a couple years before the pandemic, and was quite pleased with the show. I've heard other original band members have passed in more recent years so not sure what i would expect now.

Tried to go to the Blue Angels show for the first time in ~10 years or so at SF Fleet Week last year, but we picked the one day the fog never cleared, and all the flying stuff got cancelled. Went again yesterday and actually got see them fly. Forgot how cool it was to see and hear those jets up close. And the F35b demo was incredible. It was insane how that thing could maneuver.

Super cool. Blasphemy for me to say this as an Air Force guy, but I've always enjoyed the Blue Angels' show more than the Thunderbirds. Just seems more elegant.

Same, in the restaurant at lunch. When I heard it I knew it was a topical thing, but couldn't place why.

So we've moved to a part of California that is, shall we say, different in many ways from where we were living previously. One big difference is large, multi-lane streets with lots of cars going very fast quite near residential areas. Periodically, when out and about, someone will feel the need to drop their Challenger out of gear and gun the engine which never fails to make me giggle.

The OG Star Trek episode where they visit a planet entirely populated by 1920s gangsters is ****ing hilarious.

Does anyone remember when 2p2 switched to vBulletin? Does the original archive still exist? I have a post I'd like to find but it's from late 2005 or early 2006.

Crap! I hate it when I'm further up in the thread than I think I am. Now it just looks like I'm a sad Tori Amos fan singing to myself online.

Continuing musical interludes, last night I took myself downtown to see the Hu. Tibetan metal. The Nerv (pop metal?) from Sacramento and Blind Channel (dance metal?) from Finland opened with decent sets. Last night of the current tour, but Joe Bob says, "Check em out if you get a chance." Was a lot of fun.

Tonight we've got the Father Figures (post skate punk) final show in a tiny room with low ceilings, also downtown. I bet they get a better pit going. BC was imploring people to make a pit to show the Hu how much we rock. That's not how it works, my Finnish friend. A pit has to be organic. Bands don't start moshpits, fans do.

Saw Flogging Molly in a tiny venue a few years bc back. Got in early, mentally estimated the mosh pit, and claimed a spot about 1/3 farther away from the stage for wife's safety. Nope. We were near center pit. Pulled her out and ended up at back of venue. We found a pony wall there we could stand on to see, and it protected us from the madness.
