Papa johns and most chain pizza places regular menu prices are ELL OH EFFING ELL. Since they have constant promotions I think 50% off regular menu price is pretty close to where most of them end up when promotionalized anyway (papa johns dominoes Pizza Hut all should be in the neighborhood of 10 dollars / large pizza)

I still remember the Pizza Hut posted coupon codes on one of those deal forums and you could use those, sometimes stack them and seriously clean house. Pizza Hut finally caught on and discontinued basically every code on that list.

Tip to get free/cheap pizza. Call up or wander into a pizza joint around closing time. Ask if they have any extra pizzas that weren't picked up or whatever. If they do offer a small price or ask for them. They'll oblige a lot of the time.

Best score ever was 5 pizzas and an order of breadsticks.

I like the Ringer but they post some pretty unreadable ****, including this list. They couldn't come up with 59 different items? Taco Bell has half that on its own.

Ever since Dominos went to a permanent 3 topping large carryout for $7.99 I've been conditioned to not pay more than that for mediocre chain pizza. That and their periodic 50% off if you order online.

I just shake my head when people pay regular menu price for carryout/delivered chain pizza.

T-mobile over has been giving away chances for a free large Papa John's pizza over the last 3 weeks or so as part of the T-Mobile Tuesday's app. You have a 25% chance every week. Well, today I scored a free pizza. My dinner is on T-mobile!

A great most load app for any T-mobile customer.

Heard on the radio today that Papa John's is testing a new "Papa Priority" policy where for $2.99 you can have your pizza expedited. There is no guarantee that your pizza will be ready in any certain amount of time, just that it will be "faster".

I can see a lot of potential problems with this but who knows, maybe it will work

Completely unnecessary cash grab, but why not? People are dumb.

I wonder what the take rate would be on that. Usually if it's going to take a while for my chain pizza my response is "never mind", not "here let me give you more money".

When I delivered pizzas for a summer that was called "tipping." The first thing delivery drivers learned was which houses tipped the best and those pizzas were the fastest grabbed and delivered every time. The opposite of that would be the woman we drivers called "the bird lady" who lived in a creepy apartment full of birds at the edge of the delivery area who never tipped. People would flat out ignore her pizza sitting there waiting to go out.

There's a TOGO's next to my dermatologist. I've never eaten there but I've mooched their WIFI a few times.

Are they that good?

Hands down my favorite sandwich shop. If you like Pastrami and don't live in a place like New York with a proper deli, it's fantastic.

I wonder what effect this will have on tipping

Surely some % of people will reduce their tip by $2.99 because "I already paid extra to get it here quickly!" even though I doubt any of that money goes to the driver

What do you tip for pizza? I usually give $3 on top of the delivery charge. Normally get 2 pizzas. I'll go pick it up if it's supposed to be more.

I'd say $2.25ish is the avg. tip maybe a little more... I tip around $3 as well

These days I pick up 100% of the time because all 3 chains are within a 5 minute drive for me and I get access to carry-out exclusive specials, but when I lived further away i'd give them 20% of the total ($3 minimum)

Delivery drivers are literally driving their own vehicle to bring food to your door at min-wage not including wear and tear, I don't see why they don't deserve at least as much as waiters

BTW, delivery charges don't go to the driver

Mark,

Togo's is fine. I used to work near one. Reminded me of schlotzky's. Which apparently still exists - I had no idea, thought it went out of business years ago!

Used a Culver's bogo double deluxe coupon Friday cause it was expiring, got a new one yesterday in the US mail. Drove straight there! Same sheet has several $1 off value baskets as well, gonna get the Reuben on one, $6.50 is a steal.

The Schlotzky's by me used to have great little pizzas I liked, a thai chicken and a bacon tomato, early this century. I think they raised prices and lowered quality iirc, anyway I stopped patronizing them. Their sandwiches always seemed a little pricey to me for what you get, good but pricey. Mine does have a drive-thru which is nice. I might give them another try, still view them somewhat favorably.
