Not exactly. You just restore and they fix your phone same as always. People need to read this thread before spreading disinformation. Enliven, your comment has been addressed 10+ times in this thread.

Finally got around to jailbreaking to 3.1.2 from 3.0.1 after some apps I wanted required it. Blackra1n really has made it stupidly easy.

what online poker software can you run on the itouch/iphone and how much does it cost to use if you're not near a wireless internet connection?
12-14-2009 , 05:12 PM
You can run a remote desktop app like logmein and control the poker client on your computer. It works over 3G fast enough I think.

ok i know this has been answered 10000x in this thread probablly. Anyway, Cliffs on why i should jailbreak my iPhone ?
12-14-2009 , 06:40 PM
Tethering (using the phone's 3g as a computer modem) is my main reason.
12-14-2009 , 06:41 PM
Thanks for the links. Ive been wanting to jailbreak mine.

+1

Backgrounding and being able to use Skype on 3G are good reasons as well.

Here is my current theme:

NeoStyle Albescent. With a Santa Hat addon

pretty cool stuff C-Dog. I'm still a noob to the ssh (though getting better at it), so I'm still stuck on glass orb.

Haven't done much with my phone cosmetic-wise other than getting the fairly new Katra V3 weather lockscreen.

Neostyle seemed like a lot of work/setup when I first tried it, wish there was a self-installer that set up icons and stuff too.
12-15-2009 , 01:59 AM
i appreciate the need for tethering in situations where there isn't wifi and you just need to check email or whatnot, but after reading about how something like 3% of smartphone users use 40% of ATT's bandwidth, and that's a large part of the reason ATT's network sucks, i don't like telling people to jailbreak so they can tether. just gonna make it even worse.

now obviously, ATT should have a better network and you are paying for an "unlimited" data plan, but people who use tethering as their personal internet connection and use it all day every day are killing the network for everyone else. so that sucks.

edited to add quote:

Disconcertingly, he made reference to AT&T's favorite stat, that 3 percent of smartphone customers push 40 percent of data, and that they're looking at incentives—as the WSJ put it—that'll get those people to cut back, "in a way that's consistent with net-neutrality and FCC regulations." These FCC regulations. Meaning pay-per-byte data.

It is a lot of work to get setup initially. He has a "automated" setup method. But I don't use it.

it also helps if you can crank out your own icons, the PSDs are very easy to work with though.

I also like that The theme has addons. I have 3 themes enabled in winterboard above.

NeoStyle Albescent Christmas
NeoStyle Albescent (White)
NeoStyle Standard (Black)

The themes get progressively smaller because there are skins of the Standard to change the look.
12-15-2009 , 02:20 PM
Yeah, it was weird because when I set it up, the main images were in the way of my icons so I couldn't set them up or change them and I think that frustrated me enough to where I just quit. :P

The Neostyle themes look great but they are a serious case of form over function.

Can someone recommend a good bluetooth headset for the iphone? I'm looking at Future Shop and Best Buy online but there's a ton of them and I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

I'm on the road working from my car a lot so a good headset is essential. Unless it's a ridiculous amount money isn't really an issue. Sound quality and functionality are most important.

To an extent I think you are right. But with the spring jumps no app is more than 3 clicks away. With a non jailbroken phone, I would have some games that are a full 7 swipes away.

So I plug my iphone into my new computer and I go to sync but it stops after 2 seconds and doesn't change anything on my iphone. Is something wrong?
12-16-2009 , 12:35 PM
Don't you have to link the phone to the computer or something first?

First of all, you should buy from Amazon.com, will have the best prices on average. I have listed two below which are generally considered the "best" headsets.

This is the Plantronics I have and is really good and comfortable: http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-Vo...4160469&sr=8-1.

If I was buying a new one today, I would pay a bit more and get: http://www.amazon.com/Aliph-Jawbone-...4160668&sr=1-2. I think it is worth paying a bit more for the Jawbone if you plan on using in loud environments at all as it has incredible noise reduction.
