the iphone is really helping me play tight at the tables, as tight as joan rivers face, thx to the games and various apps you can play with

i want to hear from ya

all start it off with my favorites:
pandora, just like a satelllite radio without commercials, saved me a purchase from xm products which run i think 120 bucks a year or something

Field Runners, stratedgy game, you can easily spend 2 years of your life on this game, its that fken good

Warfare inc, another war stratedgy game, a little more complex than field runners

Need for Speed, very awesome b/c of the tilt mechanism for the iphone, kind of like steering a wheel

the games you should not get, i learned the hard way
Pocket God
Hero Sparta
Sim City
Fast&Furious
Bumper Ball
Labyrinth

Any know if Quick Office is good for being able to manage/attach files?

Just picked up an iphone yesterday. Here are a few of my first impressions:

PROS:

- excellent for browsing, nice big screen for reading

- GPS is very nice

- ability to sync up free podcasts w/ itunes is useful

CONS:

- battery life! I've only been playing around with it for an hour this morning, 1 10min phone call and some reading of webmail, and battery is at 70%

- cursor difficult to use - the lack of arrow keys means I constantly have to
use the stupid magnification bubble if I make one little typo

- no "mark all as read" option in email. Seriously - what's the point of having email alerts if I have to constantly open 20 corporate emails just to mark them as read?

- landscape typing only works in like 2 or 3 places

- very limited sound/vibrate options. I'd really like the phone to vibrate when I get a text message or call, but NOT when I receive email. Is this possible?

- only being able to run one app at a time. What if I'm listening to music and want to IM someone? Or use the GPS? AIM seems to have an option to keep me logged in for 5 minutes, but it's still annoying.

QUESTIONS:

1. Anyone have a solution to the sound/vibrate annoyance above?
2. Sometimes while on a long phone call, the screen will go black, but I need to get to the keypad to click a menu option. What's the proper way to recall the screen?
3. When I'm typing a text message and mistype a word, the correct one will often pop up. What do I click/press to choose that word instead of my current one?

Download Springback from Cydia, saves both icon and stack locations. Even helps you to have multiple winterboard themes you use by saving different icon locations to easily switch between.

Yes the battery is rubbish but just charge it every night when you sleep and it'll last the whole of the next day.

It's very easy to use this :| just double tap inbetween the typing error and you'll get it.

Yeah quite annoying but just check them on your computer first before downloading them all onto your iphone.

- landscape typing only works in like 2 or 3 places

Works in all places on mine...

- very limited sound/vibrate options. I'd really like the phone to vibrate when I get a text message or call, but NOT when I receive email. Is this possible?

Yeah have you looked in the settings ?

Yeah you can listening to music on apps and if you set your double tap home button to ipod you can double tab the home button quickly and it'll bring up the ipod controls over the app.

3. When I'm typing a text message and mistype a word, the correct one will often pop up. What do I click/press to choose that word instead of my current one? Just press space.

yeah, this bugs me.

I want email to vibrate only, and not when it's plugged in.

i turned off email alerts completely cause I didn't want to forget to turn it off and have my phone buzzing all night

Has anyone successfully played poker on their iphone yet using one of the remote access applications to control your home computer?

Has anyone used any of the remote access applications? Reviews? i know there's logmein but that needs a yearly membership too. There's also Jaadu VNC for £15 w/o a membership needed.

This isn't a helpful remark. Did you read my notes?

I want the phone to do the following:
email received: no sound / no vibrate
text received: vibrate only
call received: vibrate only

So, currently I have my phone set to silent mode (wtih the switch on top).

Once in silent mode, under settings, I only have ONE option: Vibrate ON/OFF.

If I switch to Ring mode, there's no way to disable the ring entirely for calls (I only want vibrate).

I'm seriously just considering turning off all vibrating and all ringing.

z28, once you jailbreak there is a program called backgrounder that lets you run apps in the background.

My biggest concern is that when it comes to phones I want rock solid reliability. I don't want to have to think about re-jailbreaking it, uploading updates to prevent exploits, etc. It should just work.

It would be completely awesome if when i'm with friends and they are talking about some great ep of some great TV show that i haven't seen if i could use my iphone to log in my desktop and start that episode downloading.

I guess i'm just going to bite the bullet and buy one of the expensive VNC apps and try to get poker and that going.

I've done it using Jaadu RDP. I'd highly recommend the app itself, as I've never had any problems with it and once you figure out the controls is very easy to use for basic stuff. If you're on 3G it's decent enough to play poker, though probably not more than a table or two unless you're really nuts. On Edge it's almost unusable though. I like to use it on the train sometimes, but it sucks going through a 3G dead zone at the wrong time.

You do know that you can download TV episodes from iTunes on your iPhone, don't you?

do you absolutely need to push or fetch email? i have email set so it does NOT fetch new email, but only checks for mail when i open the app. that would solve your issue of your iphone alerting you to new email, AND it saves battery life as well.

also, if you go into the "sound" options under settings, there is a slider for "new mail". would setting that to "off" fix your problem? i have that set to on, so it makes a sound when i have new emails when i open the mail app, but i don't know what it does when you have it set to fetch email...

Dear people who should know better,

Please discuss your methods of stealing intellectual property someplace that isn't here.

Thanks!

I just bought and set up Jaadu VNC. Played some poker on cake, it was ok, decent way to kill some time when traveling. I was tempted to type this post on my iphone through my laptop while sat 3 feet behind my laptop but i thought better of that. The app will be useful overall though.

Baseball Slugger may be the best iPhone game I've ever played. Now $0.99 instead of $2.99.

I've had it for a little while and I royally, royally, suck at fielding. Possibly the first baseball game ever that I wasn't beating within 5 minutes.

That glass color orb theme, they put out an update that adds all these sounds that I hate. Is there anyway to disable their sounds and keep my originals while having that theme installed?
