100 posters, and nobody has yet mentioned that the SOB tried to burn his wife and daughter to death, and burned down his house, leaving his wife and kid homeless and probably penniless. Some ****ing hero.

Yeah well might as well kill your family if you are going to make a political statement!

i don't support what he did, but i can understand why he did it. just because someone tried to burn down their own house doesn't mean they're 'crazy' or 'not worth listening to'.

I haven't been following this closely- What i'd read early on was that they were not at home when he set it on fire.

Was I wrong?

And yet, you haven't moved to Canada so far.....

Wait wait wait.... His first issue with the IRS in the 80s...

So he created a company that paid their taxes the same way the catholic church did

He saved lots of money by filing that way

And he was upset when he had to pay it back...?

Did I misunderstand something here?

they had moved out to get away from him b/c he was so angry lately. so they were not home.

But, I don't think their homeowner's insurance will cover their loss b/c it was arson. so all they get is whatever life insurance he had, if he had any, and if it was bought long ago enough that it wasn't excluded through his suicide.

To be fair the tax breaks that religious groups get is criminal and there is no logical reason it exists this way.

He Keyser Sozed the IRS. He showed those men of will what will truly is.

any way we could turn worshipping the poker gods into a religion to get some tax breaks?

i dont think killing people is usually correct, but i completely understand Mr. Joe Stack's motivations

I understand his point... But to apply those criminal tax breaks to his own non-religious business is an odd/risky way to make that point. Especially when "making the point" results in him saving thousands of tax dollars.

Everybody wants to hold on to their own money, but its almost comical that he'd think something like that would ever work in the first place.

Kinda like if you were speeding at 120mph down the shoulder of a highway because cops/ambulances get to, so you should to. Are you really gonna be surprised when you get pulled over?

Just as legit as any other religion imo. And the poker gods seem to answer prayers at about the same rate as all the other gods. It would also be nice to get anti-gambling legislation recognized for the blatant religious persecution it really is.

I think the only problem with his line was not calling the IRS building ahead of time to warn them. Mostly likely the building woulda been evacuated, story would have been more interesting, and he would increased legitimacy of "bomb" threats!

Last I checked the poker gods have answered quite a lot of prayers and all the other gods have never answered any prayers.

They weren't home, plus his daughter lives in Finland. His wife has a daughter, who you might be referring to.

No one is saying he's a hero. He's a moron for thinking the government cared one bit about him and was acting in his interests, or had any chance to change. I can see if you thought the government was actually supposed to act in the interests of its citizens how that might drive you to the point where you just want to crash a plane into one of its buildings, though. He's no hero, just a sucker who thought he could somehow influence a corrupt and unjust system.

How much warning can he give without risking being stopped? 15-20 min before impact is my guess at the sweet spot. Enough time to get people out, but not enough to get shot down. Assuming he wants that.

If he wanted to have no human impact he would have just crashed it at night. It's right next to a highway, he couldn't miss it.

+1. Easy game by the government. Plant a looney to make outrageous claims. thereby making other laws less threatening.
