The lady with the dead grandmother stated a few doozies:
-Her and her family changed nothing about their lifestyle including never wearing masks in 2020.
-When asked if getting the vaccine to protect others because she is obviously super fit she says she stays away from others (refuting the first point)
-The 2nd time she caught COVID was at a 'small' get together for a graduation in May 2021. Refuting the point above about staying away from others.
-At the get together, 8 people caught COVID. She said she had it by far the worse despite her grandmother passing away from it.

I haven't heard the show or the scientist he had on but I discussed the risks of vaccine-aggravated selection pressure leading to mutations in a previous post on this thread a few weeks ago. It's a real thing. That doesn't mean we shouldn't use the vaccines but we must recognize that selection-pressure is a significant risk. The same is true for any medicine or treatment we develop to fight pathogens and cancers, including antibiotics.

So it's irrelevant to whether or not we should actually take the vaccine. But a chunk of Rogan's audience will throw it against the wall as yet another unconnected data point that to them means all science they don't like can safely be dismissed.

On an individual basis it is indeed irrelevant - most should still get the vaccine. However it is relevant on a collective basis - the more who are vaccinated, the greater the selection pressure and thus greater the risk of vaccine-escaping mutations. This is why I also posted on this thread that I don't think children should be vaccinated - it creates a significant increased risk to selection pressure without IMO a commensurate benefit. It would be akin to giving all children antibiotics to a bacteria that has an exceeding low risk of harming them.

It should be noted that natural immunity from actual infections also creates selection pressure on the virus that leads to natural-immunity escaping mutations. The difference is that vaccine-aggravated selection pressure has a higher chance of yielding mutations that are specifically vaccine-escaping. Again, the analog here is antibiotics. The irony is that by vaccinating children you increase the chance of harming the at-risk population from vaccine-escaping mutations.

Well the good news with delta is that the vaxxed can still get it and spread it (just not as much). IE - there isn't as much vaccine-aggravated selection than if the vaxx was perfect against delta. So it would seem to reason that delta still reigns supreme on the playing field, and doesn't leave much room for a new variant to sneak in. For now.

I know anecdotally of dozens of breakthrough delta infections. It's out there.

Wonder how many deaths can be linked to their source of that motorcycle rally last year. Someone on MSNBC said the governor of SD basically unleashed a biological weapon by allowing that rally last year, seems like an apt comparison.

Only if immunity via infection lasts a year and is effective against Delta. I don't think there are strong indications of either.
