Also, I’m not quoting those as actual numbers meaning anything, just trying to teach basic math to adults.

I've watched as a lot of comedians I follow get covid and most of them had very little problems with it. I think 2 out of a large bach got it pretty bad. Chances are if you get covid you will be fine. Take a deep breath and stop watching the news.

I'm vaccinated, I am not worried about myself. The risk to myself personally has zero to do with whether I agree with handwaving away 2.6 million dead as no biggie.

I'm scheduled to receive my first vaccine shot this coming Thursday, March 18. Not sure which one, but I think I'll be getting the Pfizer vaccine. Since extreme fatigue and other "minor" unpleasantness are signs that the vaccine is working, I'm planning to take Thursday and Friday off - just in case.

I haven’t heard that is the case with the first dose from anyone who has had it, and that wasn’t the case for me. My second Pfizer is 3/25 and I am taking the next day off; that’s the one that people have a bigger reaction to.

Yeah, I know quite a few people who have had both doses now and the first one really doesn't do anything except make your arm sore.

I was a little extra tired for a day, but mostly this.

Second one was extreme tiredness and a fever that lasted until about 24 hours after the shot. Took a few days to feel 100%, but after the first day I was back to 95%. For my wife and mother-in-law on the other hand, second one was no worse than the first.

I have also seen the reverse math too from people. Saw someone on facebook claim the flu had something like a 6% mortality rate

I guess our governor is speeding up the eligibility for vaccines. The group I'm in becomes eligible later this week, so I'll start looking for an appointment.

Getting my first shot tomorrow after a 6 hour volunteer shift at a vaccine site!

Here is the site at the Cardinals Stadium, pretty cool and organized!

Just made my appointment for the Pfizer vaccine for thursday.

Quote:
Each dose of Pfizer’s contains 30 micrograms of vaccine.
Moderna went with a much larger dose of vaccine, 100 micrograms.
It means the company is using a little more than three times as much
vaccine per person as Pfizer is. And yet, they aren’t getting better results.

I'm not quite sure I'm understanding what the point is here.

I was thinking the sore arms may be from the Moderna since they are injecting more into your arm.

Lots of interesting info from that link.

Would you prefer I didn't include the last sentence?

I don't think the sore arm comes from the volume injected. At least people I have known that have daily injections don't have issues. Maybe this is different? I haven't seen anything one way or another.

As far as the last sentence, it seems like it is trying to draw a conclusion that has no meaning, and my reaction to that is, "so?"

Do you actually know what a microgram is?

This is unlikely to mean anything about how effective either vaccine is or have any relationship to side effects. It goes back to very early decisions made by the companies when they started the trials and now they are stuck with the dosages they picked way back then. The FDA wants them to study the effectiveness of a lower dose just so they can have lots more vaccine available.

If you look at the clinical trial data, there is very little difference in side effect profiles between the two drugs. Plenty of people on Pfizer have had sore arms and flu-like symptoms. The size of the doses is likely to have only a negligible effect on those.

I really wish there were easily accessible statistics for daily covid cases and deaths broken down by vaccine status. This would probably settle a lot of debates about vaccine effectiveness, and I'm not sure why states don't seem to be doing this.

The elites are openly stating the world would be much better off with less people, and them seeing cities devoid of human activity is a wonderful thing because it means less carbon emission. The WEF has deleted multiple tweets and is back peddling for admitting their absolute glee of seeing less human activity. These are the same people pushing the vaccine. If lower population was the goal why wouldn't they cast doubt on the vaccine in the hopes people don't take it so they all die from the virus, or at least prolong the carbon saving lockdowns? I believe these people are intelligent and know that if every human on the planet caught covid it wouldn't even kill 10 million, which is minuscule out of the global 8 billion population. They do want everyone to take the vaccine however.

I wonder if the vaccine will cause immune enhancement when the next coronavirus comes along, or make people predisposed to various cancers.
Sleep easy dude, you are protected against a virus with a 99.9% survival rate.

This thread seems fairly active, so will ask a few Covid-questions here just out of curiosity.

Where I live we recently went into same bullsh*t as 1 year ago; all non-essential businesses closed, and you must wear a mask outside. Actually the latter is worse than one year ago, as that was not a requirement last year.

My original home country of Norway is also in full panic mode (mostly for no reason, it has to be said), and huge parts of the country are closed down similarly. Even small cities that has had 1 single positive Covid-test in all of 2021 are forced to close all non-essential businesses, which is a bit absurd.

Mostly curious about how the US is handling the pandemic these days, compared to Europe:

- How is the vaccination going? Stats tells me 11.4% are fully vaccinated, which seems very good.
- Are the vaccination process well organized, or is there huge differences from city to city and state to state?
- How is the media covering the pandemic? Do they have running counters with number of people in hospital and deaths etc, or not?
- How is the general public feeling about the pandemic; is there a huge split between people who wants stronger measures and not?
- Are you guys optimistic about living a fairly normal summer?

Thanks in advance if anyone takes the time to answer. Just a bit tired of all the hysteria over here in Europe, and would be refreshing to hear how things are being handled across the globe.
