How did you sign up to get a vaccine? I’m in Virginia, and only 65+ can sign up through drug stores, while essential workers get it through their employer.

I pre-registered a while back, and Arlington County proactively emailed me to invite me to a vaccination event this Saturday. I think VA is a weird state in that COVID stuff is being handled locally rather than at the state level. I talked to a buddy who lives in Fairfax, is also fat enough to qualify, but hasn't heard anything yet.

CA's severe obesity standard is BMI > 40, which I could maybe just do with a month of drinking beer and actually eating everything I want.

Virginia says BMI>25 counts as a preexisting condition. Seems very silly to me, but I'm glad the state's idiocy is working in my favor.

I don't think anyone checks anything once you get there it's mostly honor system. Here in NJ smokers were at the front of the line, even ahead of teachers and many front line workers. But it's not as if they were checking your pockets for cigs or anything. Anyone could just claim they smoked, if they wanted the vaccine sooner. I'm sure some people did.

Yep. Insane. I think I saw ~75% of adults qualify. IMO it's actually way worse than opening it up to everyone, because now the people that get it will be the people that had the luxury of doing research to learn this crazy rule.

They should get an email sometime around their target date with a sign up link specifically for second doses. My parents target date was the 21st. Got the email on the 23rd and signed them up for the 25th.

Yeah, my mom was overly pessimistic. They got an email, though it was to say that the site didn't have any doses. Still, hopefully they'll get in next week.

Absolutely absurd. I'm 6'0 and weigh 173, and I'm toned. However, when I've been at my strongest I weigh between 182-188. Sorry fat people, you shouldn't qualify because you just make a decision to be unhealthy, this is why diabetes will be had by 1/3 of the country by 2050.

I volunteered to work at the hospital to help people get checked in and my payment was I was able to get the vaccine. Got the 2nd vaccine Monday so I feel pretty relieved. My arm hurt worse than the first shot but didn't last 3 days either, just one. I also felt pretty bad yesterday with an on and off headache and felt run down, but again, just one day after. This was Pfizer btw. When my dad gets it next week my mom, dad, me, one brother will have the vaccine. Hopefully my 44 year old brother in Florida will be able to get it in the next month too so we can all get together sometime this summer as its been nearly 3 years. I'm also starting a job working with adolescence who could be carrying covid so I feel justified in that way to receive the vaccine too.

Yeah, **** Texas. My sister, mid 40s, has been waiting for her turn for the vaccine but decided today to just go get it, say she has asthma, pregnant, whatever. She feels that if the state is going to just slap us in the face like this then **** it. I don't blame her.

Michigan lowering the age cutoff to 50, which is interesting, I know a few seniors who still haven't been able to get an appointment though I guess that number is coming down.

Anyone seen anything about the vaccine and people trying to get pregnant? From what I'm told the CDC or WHO had a warning about it not to long ago and now it's gone. Just curious cuz I don't know much on the vaccine front.

Sure, but why would this vaccine have any effect on exactly fertility? What would be the mechanics that would make that any way likely? Are your seaman protected with spike protein?
