Also, I am canadian. Also, I know who is on all our coins without having to think about it. Every single one.
The queen isn't on every single Canadian coin. DUCY?

I ask fairly random people who is on various denominations of currency all the time. Its a huge fail for most.

Sounds like a nice way to get people comfortable in your waiting room right before they get a ****ing needle jammed in their eye, doc, that's good on you.

This is the first time in my life this information has ever mattered to me, and that's giving this thread a lot of credit for mattering. Being observant is important, but knowing minutia is a very different thing.

It occurs to me that I haven't seen a wheat penny in years.

I saved those when I was a kid because I thought they'd be worth a lot some day, probably got a couple bucks worth in a jar at home.

It occurs to me that I know whose face is on the $500 and $1000 bills, which haven't been circulated in years (and are overdue for a comeback, IMO). And I've never been a coin collector guy, just a Presidents guy. BTW, neither of those two guys did anything memorable, a guy like John Adams is far more deserving of the honor, or Truman or JFK if you want to go all 20th Century when you bring back those denominations...

(And I know who was on the $100,000 bill, but only because I went to Binion's Horseshoe before it turned to ****, back when they had 100 of them on display.)

I came across a 1944 wheat penny today. Storekeeper clearly had no idea that sucker had tripled in value.

This was my first thought. Last year my parents got rid of 2000 or so mercury dimes that had been saved for a while.
