Americans: I have a question about an object you see daily that you will probably get wrong.

Who is on the dime?

(I believe that only around one American in ten can answer that off-the-cuff without looking it up, but have no way of testing whether or not you got it right before googling, so I leave it up to your honesty. Did you get it?)

But somehow, I bet you guys still agree that 90% of US citizens over age 12 could not name the US President on the dime within 15 seconds...

wow some of you are dumb, but I suppose most of us don't even look at any of our money any more and instead use our debit card religiously. I know I use it far more than cash.

Never knew who was on the dime, but after googling it the image on the dime doesnt look like the man imo. Where as all the other coins that I can think of actually look like the person its portrays.

Not just a yank thing. Id bet the avg Brit couldnt name who is on the £5, £10 and £20 notes and id bet like 99% of the UK couldnt name who was on the £50 note.

(the person not the queen, obv)

I'm big on making fun of people who don't know important historical/geographical/current event facts but this?

It's a really ****ty picture of him. If they gave him a long cigarette holder and a top hat he'd be much more recognizable, that or some crutches.

I knew FDR was on the dime, but I had no idea he was connected with the March of Dimes.

A better question, IMO, is:

What's on the BACK of the dime?

NOBODY knows this one.

But that is how your brain works. You are constantly bombarded with info, and your brain would shut down if it didn't eliminate the trivial info.
