I impulse bought a kindle fire HDX 7" when it was on sale last week just because i wanted a tablet to play hearthstone one(whenever they get around to releasing the android version). Is it worth the hassle to root it to get the google play store one it? I probably won't use it for much aside from hearthstone and watching movies on a plane.

rooting if possible seems like a must have to unlock it

Probably worth it if hearthstone isn't in the Amazon store when it finally makes it to Android. Otherwise probably not, just use the it for a few days and you should answer your own question.

I personally would, but mostly because I use Google services like calendar, gmail, keep and now a LOT. YMMV.

Does anyone here know hot to root a verizon S4? The only method I can find when searching is Towelroot, which doesn't recognize my phone since I have the newer update.

for the same reason they dont build much 7 inches any more , a 8 inches is usually 1.3 or 1.5 inches bigger screen while not really bigger overall than old 7 inches and still way lighter than a 9 or 10 inches.

Well, ya know, he may want a 7 inch tablet. I have a N7 and it fits perfectly in the dashboard corner when used as a car gps, and just about in my pocket when travelling by plane. I'd def rather have that size than anything bigger.

I'm fairly sure that loads of 7 inch tablets are still made.

Anyone have a recommendation for a cheapish android tablet for a 5 year old? Getting a regular tablet and running a profile for him that i can control seems >>> one of the pre-loaded kids tablets. He uses my N7 a ton, so i think that size range would be perfect.

On top of that, are there any launchers targeted to kids? Amazon has Freetime that acts as a launcher and is a subscription based service for kids books, apps, etc, but its not getting the best reviews so far.

Oh, so Inbox defaults to Reply ALL. Pretty cool idea.

You can set that up in Gmail, too. Settings -> General Settings -> Reply All (Use as default for message replies)

I don't, because IMO it's worse to accidentally email something out to the group when it was meant for one person than it is to only email one person something meant for the group.

Yeah but the number of times I've accidentally emailed one person instead of a group is a million and the number of people I've accidentally emailed a group instead of one person is zero.

...Because it defaults to replying to only the person who sent the email, and you have to deliberately choose Reply All. If the default is to Reply All, those numbers will flip.

Weird, our workflows must be different. But that's why you have the option!

I totally agree with you, my sarcasm didn't come through. I figured out the setting the hard way. I think it's a terrible default setting, but it's great to have the option to set as you choose. Unfortunately I see no such option in Inbox. Oh well, guess that's why it's beta.

It's not even a matter of frequency of mistake, it's a matter of which mistake is potentially more devastating!

Buy one on Ebay, scrounge for one on reddit, wait for them to do a pre-order event again.

@ NL_Soldier, I got my estimate back from LG and they are listing repair costs for my N5 at $329.95 after tax and shipping ~$375 which is close enough to the price of a BNIB 32gb N5 that I won't pay it.

I did find this thread though that has a few different options for the problem.

https://productforums.google.com/for...us/SLAF_OA5TxI

In the thread, someone with the same issue was told by LG that they have to replace the entire motherboard, they cannot just replace the power button, which seems to be in line with what they are asking to charge me. I think I will reject the estimate and see about doing some investigative repairs myself.

Going to bump this. I'm looking at last year's Asus Memo pad 7 for $80 on Amazon. Any thoughts?

That'd be a steal if it had 2GB of RAM. Might still be worth the buy depending on how good it's memory management is. I'd have to play with one to make a solid recommendation, but depending on your needs it could work.

It's for my 5 year old to play kids games and watch Netflix on. I think it should be fine.
