for a calling card u dial a local number, wait for a prompt then dial the long distance number (LDN). currently i have to remember that LDN and manually dial each digit, instead i would like to pull up my contacts list and select a number to dial automatically. this was a standard feature on old mobile phones that has disappeared with android.

Not sure if this helps you, but you can save numbers that have "wait" and "pause" in them. So you could tap the contact, and then it would automatically dial the local card number, then either Pause (for the length of time you set) or Wait (until you hit the prompt on the screen), and then dial the long distance number.

How you enter the Wait or Pause differs among OEMs, unfortunately. On my phone, it actually has Pause and Wait buttons when I go to enter the new contact number. On others, you have to use the comma for Pause and semi-colon for Wait (or something like that). Each Pause is usually 1 or 2 seconds, so you put multiple in a row to increase the amount of time it pauses for.

I think that would work but admittedly then you would have to program it manually for each number you want to call.

thx i was aware of this but as u said i would have to make a duplicate contact number for each number i wanted to call

Just being able to take off the back and swap out a new battery is awesome, I just dont care anymore and hammer the phone doing whatever I want like gaming, then 5-8 hours later when I am under 15% I just swap in a battery and 20 seconds later it is booted up at 100%.

The external charger case thing is really solid too, would definitely recommend vs just buying another battery and charging it just in the phone.
having gone both the 'extra battery' route and the 'external charger' route, I far prefer the external charger. it's pretty annoying to have to buy extra batteries for every specific phone while the external charger is futureproof.

plus I have an external charger that is the equivalent of 5 extra batteries - it's not for your pocket but any situation where you'll have a bag it's perfectly ok. I also have a small external battery that easily fits in my pocket that = 1 extra battery. and these things can charge various other USB things (Kindle, other peoples phones, etc). I spent about $40 combined for both and they will both be great for my current and next phone.

cool, having a rotation of batteries has worked pretty well for me but I didn't even know an external charger was a viable option and am down to try. Any recs for both the big and small versions you mentioned that would work with a Note 4?

I did very little research, just looked on Amazon quickly for some highly rated ones.

this is the big one I bought. about the size of a laptop battery.

and the small one, which fits easily into a jeans pocket.

note I didn't remember their exact cost, I paid $30 and $20 for those. still a good value I think. just pay attention to the sizes, the little one may not be quite a full charge for a Note 4.

I actually really like the big one b/c it has it's own battery meter (so you know how full it is). and it's a flashlight too!

I find 'BeyondPod' to be excellent, has all of this and more.

It also integrates with a speed adjustment thing, so you can play stuff 25% faster etc.

Preface - I suck at technology.....

I am getting ready to purchase my first android phone (moving away from apple). I am with ATT but will be purchasing phone outright instead of re-upping contract, etc...

I don't do much on the phone. Tons of texting, phone calls, pictures, email, a few apps (twitter, facebook, etc...) and that's it. No games, movies, etc...

I would like to make sure the phone does LTE.

When I look at the specs, it seems that most list bands that the phone receives instead of just stating ATT LTE or similar.

How can i tell if what I am buying will work with ATT LTE?

Any recommendations are always appreciated!

moto G 4G unless you want a bigger screen and want to pay more.
about which bands are used , it seems to depends from place to place

4g = lte?

For some reason, I thought they were different steps up the speed ladder.

I have a nexus 5 and just got my one+ last week. I haven't compared benchmarks or anything but this phone is quick. Screen is nice.
Honestly I love the nexus 5 too. Only upgrade if you want a bigger screen.

if you are not running CM on your nexus, the one+ will be a nice upgrade out of the box. if you are already running it, you'll just have to appreciate the bigger screen and better camera.

Bigger screen isn't a huge deal, maybe i should just ROM my N5 with CM ( a revision of which i ran on an S2 back a while).
Though a better camera would be a good upgrade. On T mobile now, considering moving over to Verizon as part of a family plan, N5 cant be on that network and the One+ cant either as far as i know, so likely ill pass on this invite.

You sound like me lol. I've had the S2 and I'm on Tmo(prepaid $30/no plan). Yea just put the ROM on if you want and call it a day. I think you only have 24 hours upon receiving the invite to order the one+anyways.

The nexus 5 is real good. Might be a slight plateau hdwr wise for a hi while

What is a $30 Tmo plan? Do you even get data with that?

I thought there was just $40 (500 MB) or $50+ (1+ GB).
