Yeah I know about the gorilla glass, but this screen seems the worst I've ever had for scratches.

Having an issue with PokerStars mobile on Android 4.4.3 (Nexus 7 2013); Everything table touch related don't work. Action buttons (bet, fold etc) don't register touches and can't slide between tables. Table is running normal and it's not "frozen". Just don't register any touch. Menus on top works normally.

Only got latest android update for Nexus 7, so not tested on Nexus 5 yet.

not sure what all is updated in 4.4.3. I know someone mentioned not liking the new dialer, but i really like it. I dont have pictures for 95% of my gmail contacts, so having the letter instead of a picture doesn't bother me.

My old HTC used to link people with their facebook pic, is there any way to do that with the new dialer?

I don't use Facebook but I use Skype and it pulled off all my contacts from there automatically so I would bet it will do the same with Facebook - whether that means you get multiple contacts or if it will intelligently merge the two I have no idea, though.

Since it's all google, mine draws pics from the persons email profile (MSN.com, Google+) if I have sent them an email from the email address sync'd with the Gmail app.

I think Google will no longer sync your contacts with facebook directly, you have to use a 3rd party app to do this.

GB, curious, how do you break it? A heavy duty case + tempered glass screen protector, doesn't help?

Thanks dude. I saw the new themes and it got me back using SwiftKey for a while but I hadn't spotted the number row option. It's the only thing I miss from the Samsung note 2 keyboard

SwiftKey has gone to free app with in app purchases. You get some credits if you've already paid for it.

I tried out the number row, but it takes up too much screen real estate for me. I posted this a while ago, I think it's still relevant:

For anyone who is new to SwiftKey, or just gave up on it without digging around too much, I highly recommend spending some time in the settings. Changing the long-keypress duration is the single most important thing to improving SwiftKey for me, but other tweaks I've done that I've liked:
  • "Themes" - I like "Nickel Light" or "Light".
  • "Resize" - I like the 2nd smallest. You might like something else depending on screen and thumb size
  • "Full" keyboard as opposed to thumb or compact
  • Under "Input Methods", I disabled Flow and kept Voice. Disabling Flow allows you to keep the swipe-left-to-delete-word gesture, and that gesture is fantastic. For those who don't know, when typing, if you slide left across the keyboard, it'll erase the entire previous word in one go.
  • You can also swipe down to hide the keyboard (though I primarily use the dedicated Back button on my phone for this)

My biggest complaints with SwiftKey right now are that it sometimes gets slow on my device (not sure if it's the keyboard or my phone) and that I can't customize alternate characters.

That is, I pretty much never use * and +, but they're alternate characters on the main screen. I'd like to be able to choose my alternate characters (I'd put % and ~ there instead). % is only one screen away, so not too bad, but I use it frequently. I don't use ~ as often, but that's two screens away so extra annoying.

Ars Technica put out a pretty comprehensive history of Android that some of you might find interesting. Warning: it's VERY tl;dr.

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/...les-mobile-os/

It's pretty hilarious to be reminded just how butt-ugly and visually-inconsistent Android was in the early days, especially when compared to iPhone which basically didn't change visually for 5-6 years.

I'm not following what you mean by "somehow I have IT and a spell check happening", can you clarify?

I don't know of any way to disable the word suggestion bar.

I don't think you can disable the bar, but you can long press on a word and have it not suggest the word again.

quick questions for you guys.

Have the nexus 4 , while i like it, the battery problem tilts me , so i am getting a new phone this/next week..

Nexus 5? HTC m8 or that new amazon phone? Im not snap buying the nexus 5 because of its battery ..

2. Do they sell super powered chargers? I have access to the 5 dollar chargers , but they obviously suck , so i use the branded ones, is using the specific charger for a phone make a difference?

3. what about the cable? recently i bought a 10 foot cable because i was tired of these usual 3 feet ones, and i noticed it charged much slower.. is that normal ?

4. any new programs I should look into ? i downloaded tasker way back then, and while its cool , i never really put much time into it.. i actually have a lot of programs i bought which i should use more, but any new ones i should look into ?

thanks guys.

If battery life is an issue for you, look at Samsung phones as you can carry an extra battery with you and swap out when the 1st one gets low. Can't do this with Nexus phones.

I didn't have an issue with the N4 battery life, what are you running on your phone that eats battery up? N5 is better for battery life but again, depending on what you run on your phone it will only be marginally better if you run battery draining programs all day.

Look at phones you can swap out batteries in (as said, Samsung products) if battery is your main point of issue.

For charging, you could look into the wireless charging pads, that way you can just set your phone on it whenever you are not using it so it charges throughout the day without being attached to a cable.

thanks for the reply..

Yes, if it wasnt for the battery issue I would have bought the nexus 5 already.

the thing is i hate samsung phones.. they seem clunky and feel cheap to me (which is why I like htc phones usually)

I run a couple of stock/charting programs which really use up battery , the thing is, I need to have them on, and its usually the reason i am at 20% by noon.

I will def look into the wireless charging pad, but my problem is usually when im up and about.
