My phone is broken and as I've only got a few months left on my plan I'm looking at buying a cheap Android phone to use in the interim.

I don't need anything special. I don't care about the camera quality etc, just something cheap to use for the next few months.

What should I be looking at?

I have had xiaomi 3 for a few months now. Screen is nice, battery lasts about a day for me with no problem. Sound quality is not great and its the first screen I have had that got scratches on it. The typing lags a bit if the phone has been on a few hours. Overall I like the phone, and for the money (and I live in China) it is exactly what I wanted.

If you want a cheap phone, you could do worse than get a Nexus 4 or even a Galaxy Nexus second hand from ebay.

I'm in the same boat w/ the N4. Love it other than the crappy battery life.
For me it's tough to pull the trigger on anything right now. Waiting to see what the Moto X2 or next Nexus-ish device brings; or maybe even the LG G3 if that's ever released.
If you need something now I guess you just go M8.
Although it's a bit unclear to me if it's easy to keep T-Mobile's $30 plan when you have to switch sim cards?

The Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (Wifi) L preview images are up on Google as of a couple of hours ago (I think?):

just read a recap of the I/O, did not see anything relating to new nexus tablets or phones. Perhaps it was not a focal point and was included with something else?

My claim was "settled" by the courier for the max value of $100 so I am looking for a new tablet now, the Sony Xperia z2 tablet is standing out to me right now.

Anyone have one/experience with Sony tablets? or can lead me in a different direction.

Mostly for personal use when travelling as I don't want to lug my laptop around but will be used for business applications as well when travelling and at home.

Well I have rooted in the past but unrooted to sell it. Didnt know if that made a difference.

For those not aware (I know its been discussed a bit here before) but for those who arent rooted and would like a different look, I am liking the google experience launcher. My favorite part might be the full album art on the lock screen:

along with google now without pressing any buttons.
