Nexus owners,

If you haven't gotten Nougat yet, just enroll in the beta program and it will be immediately available.

https://www.google.com/android/beta

Checked for update on my 6p, not available, enrolled in beta, 5 seconds later I got Android 7.0 so go for it. not sure why they can't just offer it to me but whatever.

Owners of HTC, Samsung, and LG phones,

How you guys likin Kitkat?

Welcome to 2016 where it's no that important anymore. I have marshmallow and it wouldn't change much if i was still on lollipop. I know i like the Mm permission better but could live without it. I ve yet to see something promising with nougat.

Yea I just got bumped from N dev 5 -> full N; I think the last dev build was mostly done though.

I didn't use stock until I got my 6P/Marshmallow, but I like the jump from MM->Noug a lot. I appreciate all the changes to the UI, I like some little stuff like the fast switching back and forth between recent apps (double tapping square), and am hopeful that the new extension to doze adds a negligible (but maybe non-negligible with my ****tier battery Nexus Sailfish whatever) battery boost.

Yea, it's all minor stuff, but that's the same with most things these days.

the multi window can be cool i guess but is not something new since i had that like 3 years ago and tbh it s not that usefull.

as for Battery that s why i bought a phone with 4800mah and dont think about charging it during the day anymore or saving battery

Interesting haha I think the multiwindow thing I'll absolutely never use. Are you the one who rocks the ginormous phone? I'm trying to go the opposite direction and downsizing from 5.7" -> 5".

yeah i have the ginormous 6.4 phone , guess what people think i have a galaxy note and arent choked about it.
As for me , i ve thought it was a bit extreme for a few days but already adjusted and most likely would have a hard time going smaller now. My gf moto X2 looks so tiny now and even her tried to trick me a few times into trading with her, she has some super small hands.

meh, this may turn me off of it tbh. we have AT&T through straight talk, and they and VZW are by far the best service in my area atleast (Indy). Have to think if its worth trying out, but i guess at worse i can cancel and go back after a month.

Seems like a no brainer, right? Straigh talk has been fine for us for 2+ years now, but i've been hearing really good things about Fi.

I think that refund is only if you buy a 5x now

2nd paragraph though. that promo was going on when i bought the phone originally, so it reads like we would get the partial refund.

anyone else with google fi having texting issues?

since i've switched over i have had the following things occur (using hangouts for my texting app): (all friends involved have iphones)

1. 1 of my friends stops receiving texts in a ~6way group chat that's been going for ~a year the day I switch to fi.

2. i consistently have incoming texts show up in a completely separate hangout thread than the outgoing one I sent to the same (1) person.

3. a friend was unable to add me to a large group text, getting some error regarding imessage.

group texts with iphones certainly weren't perfect from my nexus on AT&T but fi seems to have made things worse.

love it aside from that.

It's likely an issue with hangouts, not fi, which uses separate threads for sms/gchat/email, so make sure when you select your contact it's actually texting them and not gchatting to their email.

Some people detest hangouts for this reason, and use an SMS alternative.

I like the way hangouts has been letting me text from my gmail browser on my computer, but that might be whats going on.

This morning's example: my outbound text says "via sms" underneath, and the incoming text (different thread) says "via project fi". (he's texting back from an iphone and nowhere does it show an email or give implication it could be a hangout message).

Hangouts is all-around an inferior product to Google Messenger in terms of actually working and performance. The best move you can make is getting a chunk of your friends to move to whatsapp (especially if they're iPhone users). Seamless cross-platform communication with some pretty great core-functionality advantages over standard SMS. i.e. add/remove people mid-group text.

Anyone have experience with cracked screens? Is it worth doing yourself, or better to pay the pros?

Better to pay a pro. Still depends on phone and what cracked and price of the part

Grunching.

I have a month or so old Samsung s7 edge.

Out of nowhere it's telling me my pin is wrong. I can still get in through my fingerprint but I can't change my pin because I don't know the old pin. I am 100% sure I am entering it correctly. Can someone somehow hack it and change my password?

I don't know anything about this stuff.

Be careful not to leave it locked for too long, mime demands a pin instead of fingerprint after 24 hours IIRC. No idea how to help, sorry.

It's way more likely you ****ed up than got hacked.
Try to restart the phone my friend galaxy note allow to change the pin after restart without knowing the previous pin. Not sure if s7 have the same bug. You might not be able to use fingerprint after restart without pin tho. That's the case on my current phone where I need to use pin after restart. Not a Samsung tho

Can't you do a hard reset and clear all passwords?
Unless it's linked to your Google account,I'd think that would be a fix,but not sure.

Is the S6 active still a decent phone for a couple more years at least? I'm about ready to ditch my windows phone. I see you can pick them up on the bay for around 300 bucks
