i know lots of u don't like large phones, but im the opposite and would like to get rid of my tablet and have one device for everything

its $320 for the 64gb version and has awesome battery life as well
Bought it last week it's exactly as expected. Big great screen. Awesome battery. Fast enought. Miui 7 is ok. Not much bloat appart from a couple apps.

Feel like when I was holding note 1 even if the screen is 1.1 inch bigger.
No way to go back to a 5 inch screen after that. 5.5 feel standard to me. No way to go back to a 3k mah battery either. I ve to push super hard to run out of battery at the end of the day. Such a great feeling to use the phone without worrying about battery

Unless you specifically want the ginormous screen, I don't really get it. You can probably get a Nexus 6P for not much more (certainly <$400 these days), and it's basically the same thing with a much better processor, stock Android, and an AMOLED screen. I have to try pretty hard to run out of battery on this guy as well.

But yea, if a 5.7" screen isn't big enough then it looks great.

ya the large screen is a big plus because it will be used for business purposes as well in presenting to clients

the specs r very decent too, maybe a tad below flagship but still pretty close

some other nice touches: huge battery 4850 mAh, 16 MP camera, high SBR, dual SIM, microSD slot, FM radio, IR port, fingerprint sensor, very affordable

ok i think i convinced myself to buy it
(thx also for the feedback @eddymitchel)

I paid 230 euro for mi max. Nexus 6p would be 400+

I went over my data allowance a lil bit last month. My bill jumped up to $33.22. I love Google.

On T-Mobile, if I go over my 6 GB of data (I pay $50, it would be $80 via Project Fi?), I just pull from my data stash which carries over for a year and is above 20 GB right now. I love T-Mobile.

I saw T Mobile offers free data for music streaming and for Pokemon, would Project Fi wouldn't receive those benefits?

More trouble with HTC. I bought my wife the HTC 10 the same time I got mine. It was getting really hot while charging for a couple weeks. Then one day it just wouldn't charge. I took it to my carrier and they said no problem we'll send it away free of charge to get fixed. They call me back a week later and say there was water damage and is inrepairable. It never got wet to my knowledge, the only thing we could think of is sometimes my 1 year grabs it and puts it in his mouth, HTC and the carrier both agree this is likely what happened but say it's cheaper to buy a new phone then fix. They also mentioned if you used it while cooking the steam could damage it.

So yea, HTC is aids. Don't buy HTC and tell everyone you know never to buy one.

While that is unfortunate it sounds like the lesson may in fact be to not give $800 electronic devices to a one year old.

I work away so we Skype often, he grabs the phone sometimes. My daughter did it when she was young as well. Didn't effect an iPhone or Samsung.

And it wasn't in a case I assume?

Your kids must have great immune systems, sucking on a phone is equal to putting strange fingers in their mouth.

If it's in a case and the kid can drool heavy enough to damage it,I don't know if that's a problem or a talent.

Barely any drool. The guy at the carrier told me that even one drop of water can damage the HTC 10 unrepairable.

Shifty that really sucks bro. A phone should DEFINITELY be able to withstand being put in someone's mouth for 3 seconds. Jesus ****ing christ.

I think most phones should be made water resistant these days (the ****ing ****ty ass S5 had it for christ's sake), but I'll step back and just say that you shouldn't be able to cause water damage with your mouth.

A baby sucking on the phone is surely less damaging than using it in a light rain downpour. I mean how much saliva can a kid really produce?

Modern phones should easily handle this. Especially a sealed unibody device.

I mean this isn't like the kid was playing with it in the bath.

What are people's favorite widgets? I go through phases of trying to use widgets, and phases of finding them dumb, particularly if I set them up as full screen things. I wind up just never using them.

Ones I have used with varying "success":

Beautiful widgets clock
Basically a knockoff of the HTC clock. Big clear clock with quick date and time, configurable hotspots to launch other apps for stuff like weather and alarms.

Calendars
Pretty self explanatory. Quick viewing and scrolling of upcoming calendars (list view ftw). I have tried many and usually wind up back at stock Google calendar because all the other ones have some sort of crippled functionality regarding Google calendars, and my universe runs of gcal so I can't have that.

Music widgets or podcast widgets
Basically just things to get the play button one or two clicks closer. Never sticks. Also all of these I've seen are ugly.

Messages/hangouts/email
Much the same as calendar. Super quick to view and scroll, but I find the similar downside to the music stuff: when I want to engage with these apps, it's more than a quick glance. Always disappear within a few days of trying to make it work.

Some version of the Evernote or other quick note capture widgets
These probably fall for me because I just can't make myself a person who locks in to a note taking platform like Evernote. The actual hot button to use camera or grab a note is good and works well.

Inbox reminder button
This one I used a lot but now that I switched back to Gmail from inbox, I removed.

Google search bar
I find I like this better than directional swipe or something to launch search.

So, what do you guys use and like?

Also quick note I mean in a non ******* way: itsonlychips, if you are using it to present to clients, it seems odd to not optimize for that use. By that I mean, if client work/presentations is a thing you are generally doing on a tablet, I'd want to be damn sure it's just as good on my large phone before making that swap, and not justify the large phone as a thing that's going to make the client interaction better. Maybe that's just super nitty tho.

I am having issues with loading amazon prime onto my nVidia Shield set top box. I can sixe load it, launch it, but I can not seem to access prime itself.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Yea same on the going through phases thing - although overall I'd probably take on average an anti-widget stance.

Clock/date seems kinda nice, but meh, it shows it on the lock screen (and swiping down on the status bar) so doesn't seem like it's worth the real estate.

Calendars seem like a fantastic widget - for people who aren't me. I have like 1-3 things/week on my calendar that I just prefer to memorize unless I want to take a second to plan something out in which case I'd rather open it up and look at month view.

Music - yea same... I'd entertain the idea of something that could play/pause/next for ANY music app that I have (GPM, Pandora, Pocket Casts), but I'm still not sure that would stick, the controls are just all over the place anyway - on the lock screen, in the notifications panel, etc.

Messages - lolwut

Google search - I recently nixed the search bar; it seems crazy to me to take up 4+ tiles with something that's technically a button and not a widget. I made my home button be google search, but even if you're not interested in doing that, I'd argue just putting the normal google search app button is objectively superior.

So, all that said, there are 2 widgets that I AM currently using... 1 is what you already hit on, the note taking thing. I like the Google keep widget where it has a button for each type of note you might want to take. It's been occasionally useful and looks kind of nice. 2 is a weather widget. I've gone back and forth on weather widgets, but it's kind of nice to just passively obtain weather information whenever you're using your phone. Without it I find myself never knowing the weather, and vice versa (it's nice to see % precip, the temp high, the next day or two, etc.).

My home screen currently looks like this
Spoiler:

(No app drawer because I user 2 finger swipe up for that)

Please tear down my logic, I really enjoy changing things on my phone so would love new ideas

I'm spending some time on the Indiana Michigan border and when I cross into Michigan's time zone the HTC 10 clock widget splits into two clocks, one with current city and time and the other into home city and time. I've had HTC phones for a while now and have never seen this.

Pretty neat

I use dash clock on the homescreen but most of my widgets are 1 screen to the right of home. I have a weather timeline widget and 2 event flow calendar widgets. Pretty interesting click behavior on the event flow. If I click the day it opens Today calendar because I like the month view. If click add event it opens Google calendar and if I click on a specific event it opens Google calendar. I also have a Sound search widget on the next page.
