I've thought for a long while that Textra is hands down the best. All the customization I could imagine, it's fast and works beautifully. I like the custom LED colors and speech bubble colors (customized to the contact) myself. For completeness though, I know that lots of others like Google's messenger (not hangouts, although some like that too) and QKSMS.

Dunno about wallpapers, I usually download a random app for that that comes with a gazillion.

Galaxy S6, AT&T, 5.0.2, all stock, "Internet" is the default browser (although the phone did come with Chrome installed).

Thanks that's the info. I was looking for. Looks like we're stuck with "Internet" for at least a couple more years.

Can you do me a favor and hit this site and paste the user agent string that comes up?

Useragentstring from the 'Internet' browser on note 4 using 5.0.1:

Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 5.0.1; SAMSUNG SM-N910T Build/LRX22C) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) SamsungBrowser/2.1 Chrome/34.0.1847.76 Mobile Safari/537.36

Which carrier is this? Also we're up to Chrome 34 rendering engine - only 9 back from actual Chrome - woo hoo! At least they updated it from 28. Swipe might actually work now.

Chrome 38 - even better. At least Google is updating the thing. Makes me feel much better. Thanks.

And "SamsungBrowser" is even in the user agent so we don't need a magic decoder ring to figure that out anymore. Nice. Look at Android getting all developer-friendly. It's a new day.

guys, guys, GUYS

EVERYONE STOP EVERYTHING

https://www.pushbullet.com/ If you aren't a pleb with no laptop/PC and don't have this, get it now.

You can now respond directly to text messages from the computer. bishes be textin me and I'm like ugh texting is so slow. Now I don't even have to pick up my phone. A small little window pops up in the corner of my screen and I can just reply without being interrupted by my video games.

Off the top of my head
  • Light/dark theme
  • Theme color
  • Speech bubble color***
  • Notification LED color***
  • Maybe others that I don't use?

***these are also customizable on a per-contact basis in addition
