I wouldnt worry - i've been going grey since I was 15, so people have always thought I was 10 years older than I am.

Finally some good news for England fans, Emile Heskey retired from international duty.

Quoted for truth.

I have personal experience.

His wife probably gives him more jabs about being old than we do though

Serious Question i wants advice on.

Iv currently started a new job - [im a welder] now i havent worked as a welder since ~2years ago. I done some other things like working in joinery workshops and worked for my brother. Iv come to realise that i no longer like this work. Its hard work, its dirty, you get burnt [in numerous ways - skin burn from UV, spatter burns and the odd touching a really hot object. Iv also been on fire a few times lols] Its bad for your eyes [welding and grinding etc] and the pay isnt spectactular. Its ok i suppose for pay but im never gonna increase my wages by much and imo the workay ratio isnt good.

I didnt mind all this when i was ~18 cos i was making decent money for my age, all i cared bout was buying a car etc and drinking.

I come to the decision that im do not want to do this kind of work for the rest of my life. Iv been thinking about maybe going to university but i have my doubts

1. Im 25 so id be near 30 when i finish
2. Uni cost money ldo
3. Im not even sure what id want to do
4. I think its too late to apply for sept '10 course so id be stuck with waiting to sept '11
5. Some of the stuff i may be interested in would probably require me doing some form of A levels/entry courses which would take an extra few years.

I also had been to uni for an engineering degree [not even sure id want to purse this again though] but left for personal reasons early in the 1st year. [when i was 18]

Whats my play? Any advice is appreciated. What do some of the older guys here think - guys with more life experience etc I can answer more questions if people want

Oh and anyone can me an answer no matter how irrelevant they think it is. I may even listen to bb99

Can't you fall back on your night time dancing career?

Last edited by bumblebee99; 07-15-2010 at 01:29 PM. Reason: meh, 25 isn't old to join uni. I went like 14 years ago and there were loads of crusties then

Seriously tho, you need to be really interested in what you want to do if you go to uni. It's pointless going for the sake of it on some course that is mildly interesting if you won't see it through. Particularly with no guarantee of a job at the end of it.

Thats what I did

Going to view a house to buy, then I will be back and drinking beer. Will post moar must-listen-to-life-advice then.

I paid around a hundred for a cup and a print (inc postage) at the Rio. The bill from the third party to the vendor was around half that

so cool to win your ME seat mid-trip

Not sure if this will help you at all, but I'm considering studying with the open university atm. It might be ok for you as you would be able to keep your current job to finance the course and pay for beer/bills/hookers/blow.

I see what your saying about a random course. But when i said i didnt really know what id want to do i meant that i have a few thoughts on it and am unsure of which to do.

Like on 1 hand i could go do engineering again, its a hard course but i could end up with a good paying job and also i have hands on experience woth engineering as a welder. Maybe not much wrt whatever job id be doing but itd give me an edge over the average out of uni student imo.

But i also like the thought of maybe going into something to do with construction etc but i could go to uni etc and come out with construction industry still in pieces and have no job etc

Another option iv thought of is some sort of sports course. Its not something id know alot of but i think it would be something that i would enjoy - ie maybe working with local clubs doing training etc.

edit: good luck house hunting

i must look them up. Do you know much about the open university. Iv only kinda heard of it. Do you get a full degree with it or is it like entry level to brick and mortar universities etc.

On my way to look up their website now

Move to US.
Find cougar (your accent will probably be helpful, IMO).
Marry said cougar.
No prenup (this is key).
Wait.
Divorce said cougar for half. (Or wait till she dies for all).
Profit.

Edit: Really, though, just go be a dealer somewhere, IMO.

I've thought about applying myself, but as BB mentioned, the courses I'm interested in don't lead into a certain career etc.

They are full degree's I think, and from the very little research I've done employers favour OU degree's as it shows way more motivation etc. Not entirely sure how accurate that is though so meh.

I laid down last night for a short nap at about 7 PM, wanting to grind for a few hours out on the patio when it was less than 110 degrees.

I woke up at 11 AM this morning, and still feel tired.

Something, I feel, is wrong with me.
