Cheers.

Here's the scenario, £1/£1:

Villain straddles £2, a couple of callers inc. Hero.

Someone leads flop to £5, hero raises to £15, villain shoves £100. Hero ???

Hero picks up that villain is known at the table, appears to be on the loose side, but otherwise no reads. Not been sat down very long.

Snap call amirite, even taking out most of those hands?

I'm snap calling. Yeah he might have Qc9c which would suck, but he's way more likely to have AcX, KcX, overpair or air.

Does anyone know what to do if hem imports a hand incorrectly? FTP froze right after I won a buyin, so the hh messed up when writing to my hd and counted the hand as a loss of a buyin. I tried copy/pasting the hh from the ftp last hand, creating a notepad file and importing it....but it keeps importing the hand as a loss.

meh, I guess you could write the file yourself if you know how and import it.

Otherwise I think you are SOL.

Why does it matter anyway?

I tried that... and when I hit refresh on my graph it just makes my graph go down instead of up.

And I'm a stickler about record keeping.. since I claim the winnings on my taxes... so I try to keep things accurate. But I guess I could just write myself a note saying to add $20 to whatever I end up claiming as income.

Is it showing the loss in the right place on the graph, but not showing the hand when you look at the session ?

Have you tried trying to find it by searching on hole cards or villain or amount won or whatever ? - if it was mangled it may not be appearing in the correct session, is what I'm thinking. Then you could delete it and add one yourself that you concoct.

Using HEM as track keeping for legal matters isn't smart. There is a bunch of instances where HEM wont track your hands like when you computer freezes, you loose internet connection etc.

If I had to pay taxes on my winnings I would simply take a screen shot 1/1 with the date showing, keeping a record of everythin I cashed out and another screenshot 1/1 next year. This will give you your winnings, including all rakeback/bonuses that HEM wont track anyway. If you get auditet (do they do that if you aren't reporting as a pro?) I would pull up my HEM to support my claim.

This way seems more precise and less work as you don't have to worry about rakeback/bonus

I found the problem... there was one line from the hh that wasn't put in to my hh.

If I am understanding you right A.E... you think that I should take a screenshot of my accounts (with date showing) on the first... keep a record of my cashouts... and then take another snapshot the first of next year and use that to track my income. If that is the case, then unfortunately filing gambling taxes isn't that simple in the US...

I have to add up all winning sessions (for simplicity sake, for cash games 1 session=1 day.. but each individual mtt/sng is counted as a session)... and that number goes in as income. Then I add up all losing sessions, and that number can be counted as losses (if I choose to itemize my deductions). So if I only played 5 days out of the year, on day 1-3 I won $100 each, day 4 and 5 I lost $100..... according to the government, I would have $300 in gambling income.... and then if I were to itemize, I would have $200 to write off. However, most people in the US will report either their net profits.... or what they cashed out.... and most times they won't have any problems with the IRS because the change in tax won't generally be enough for an audit to worth it from a cost perspective.

wtf???

So you get the same net result (paying taxes on $100), but 200 times the paperwork???

Who came up with that bright idea?

Welcome to the US tax code

The problem with the way they do it.. adding the gross profits to income.. is it can effect things like EIC that can lower tax burden or increase tax refund.

Lol, wat?

I was just friended by someone on Twitter that I didn't recognize, so I went to check them out. I am pleased to report that this spambot(?) is very select in their friending targeting, and I made the cut: it's WebMD, U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services, and me.
