That's a reasonable representation of where one could stand when making it to an MTT final table, but as the only SNG choice, it's not a good structure at all.
Every time the SNGs change, it means fewer options. What is going on?
This is not a new issue. When I played on PokerStars, they had a huge number of options, including SNGs for 6, 9, 18, 27, 45, 90 and 180 players. They even had a $0.10 SNG for 360 players. But even with the huge amount of traffic on PokerStars, eventually a lot of SNG players were jumping on these forums, complaining that the SNG traffic was divided too many ways to support everything that was being offered. For any site, there is a limit to how many types/sizes/speeds/structures can br successfully offered.
The solution is ridiculously simple--start over. Start with what every poker site except this one has, basic 9- or-10 man SNGs that pay 3 places. When all is going well, try adding a 6-max, or a turbo, or an 18-man, or DONs. Take it one step at a time, wait to see if there in enough traffic for however many types/sizes/structures/formats that you have, and if it's going well, then add one more. That could mean adding something new once a week, or once every month or two, depending on player acceptance and how fast the player pool grows.
I finally found the DONs, and all of the other new SNGs. I've been pretty negative for a while, but this time, credit where credit is due. The regular SNGs are back and they still have that good structure. It's still kind of odd that the SNG antes start at level 7 while the MTT antes start at level 4. It seems like it should be the other way around, but getting the regular SNGs back is definitely an improvement.
Also, several players were multitabling the 6-man DONs, so it's good to have those back. And pricing the lowest SNGs at $1.59 is a
big improvment. Now the new fish have a chance to make their $50 deposits last for a while, and keeping them around longer gives them a chance to learn the game while building the bottom of the pyramid for the rest of us.
This is a huge improvment, and it's really nice to know that the players are being listened to.
Thank you.
