This player point thing is for sure going to effect that larger player pool though:

Poker can be really boring. VIP points encourage players to keep playing especially through losing sessions. What a site should really want is to have their players focus on collecting points rather than to focus on whether they are having a winning or losing session. One of the really smart things that UltimateBet did amongst all their really dumb things was to show the player points being earned in real time just below the hero's seat. That certainly motivated me to play longer sessions.

Losing the VIP points has the effect of an across the board rake increase. So some of the break even players are going to slip into the losing catagory and some of the losing players are going to see their bankrolls slip away that much faster. I would think that some players will start looking elsewhere to play as a result.

A lot of players don't read 2+2, some have never even heard of it. There are going to be a lot of players who didn't receive emails and who are going to find that their VIP points are gone. They are going to be very pissed. That is not good for business.

Believe me, I get what you're saying when it comes to this example. However, online it's different. When you call, villain can never just muck his cards, they are automatically flipped over. So, it doesn't really compute/transfer to online.

i think the rule for live play is "called river bet-every1 flips up their cards", its just never enforced.

and SantaCruz-very good point

Someone asked the same question over in the WPN forum. This was my answer to him which I think holds true for all online sites:

Additionally, seeing mucked cards simply makes the game more fun. Perhaps hardened pros might want to see mucked cards to gain reads but recreational players want to see the mucked hands just so they see how the hand ended. If they sucked out on someone, they certainly get some thrills from that. Showing mucked cards, I think, generally brings more players to a site.

Merge changed its hand histories so PT isn't working at the moment. But they say on the PT web site that they are hoping for a fix as early as later today.

I couldn't agree with you more. Knowing that your gaining some type of reward gets me back to a site more often. Now that there's no rewards, I'm more hesitant to play there. I will keep playing there for now, but now I'm going to be giving "another" site more of my action.

I recently just moved to a state that apparently the Merge Network doesn't accept players from. I've continued to play on Merge with no problems so far, but my question is am I going to have a problem when I go to cashout if I use my new address? I don't want to go ahead and request a cashout and than have merge go ahead and lock up my account and my funds. Do you think they would allow me to keep playing in this state if I told them since I created my account in a state they accept players from?

"Overnight the Merge Network released a fix that addressed one of their hand history bugs, but another bug was found before the release came out and this bug fix resulted in a change that requires us to compensate for the alteration in the importer - this means we need to put out a new release to compensate for this change. We have notified Merge, hopefully they will have a fix for the extra bug we found very soon, if we are lucky maybe we can see a new PT4 release to address this issue early next week."

In the past if you have a past existing account from a now banned state you are still good, they just don't take new sign ups from people in the state, but even if they decided now that they will not let the existing accounts play I highly doubt they would lock up your funds, they would simply cash you out thank you for your business and close your account i'd imagine.

Yes you will. Security will almost certainly close your account. Of course you will be paid out your balance in full.

PokerTracker 4.11.10 - Pre-Release Release Candidate

ATTENTION: This version is a release candidate and has not been fully tested therefore USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. If you believe that one of the changes listed below is not resolved properly then please reply in this thread and we'll investigate. If significant bugs are found in the Release Candidate and a new v4.11.10 release needs to be issued, you will not be notified of the new version and you will need to manually download and install it.

With the recent Merge updates and bugs introduced by the Merge Network; I wanted to get this fix out as soon as possible rather than waiting until Monday or Tuesday for this release candidate to be fully tested internally by quality assurance."

If possible have the checks sent to your previous state and have them sent to you in the mail by the person who collects them for you. Use a VPN so it looks like you're in a different state.

I can't find this post/link on the PT forums. I'm looking directly at APerfect10's post history and don't see it. Perhaps it was pulled already?

If you've used Hold Em' Indicator on Bovada it's the same thing as the Carbon HUD.

I see, so its just very basic info. Still better than nothing tho.

Anybody know where I can find this elusive HUD? Is this something I have to download separately?

The new update actually seems like a pretty big step backwards. Two major resulting issues:
  • there is now a huge overall lag
  • hand history feature does not work

Very disappointing.
