Finally got a deposit to go through on Carbon.

Has anyone used the free HUD they provide? Is it decent?

I'm a live player and would prefer to play without a HUD, but I wouldn't mind trying it out just to see if I like it or not.

The carbon poker calculator is actually Holdem Indicator. It is a functional HUD and also has a odds display that can be helpful. Still worth investing in PT or HEM, although actually I use the odds display from the the Carbon calc and the HUD from PT4.

Just got the same error. Was in the middle of the tournament when I logged out. When I try to log in now it says they're down for scheduled maintenance and will be up in 6 hours.

Also was unable to sit tables and can't log back in after logging out. Obviously they are updating to take away player points. I'd better see some new promo announcements when I wake up (hint: I know I won't)

I wonder too. If you get restricted, naturally you'll complain. If you don't, you wouldn't bring it up. Only posts about restrictions are people that are (rightfully) pissed.

Same logic to cashouts a lot of the time.

Play on a non-jazzete skin (read: Carbon) and don't be a sick next level cash-game crusher and I'm sure you can avoid the table cap for ring games. Just my 2 cents!

Exactly, just learn proper dumb down strategy making your losses look legit and you should have no problem being banned for winning. Just intentionally lose what you can afford to lose. Don't get greedy and lose to much. Just play for the fun of losing.

I'm trying to color code players. When I click on the player and I get their color code box in the notes window I try clicking it and nothing happens. I play mainly MTTs.

I am running Mac OS 10.6.8

Anyone know what or should be fixed?

thanks

I find I naturally lose enough through suck outs and coolers. No need (so far) to add any fuel to the fire.

One thing that players can do to try to avoid being capped is to minimize the quantity of deposits and withdrawals. Both cost the site money obviously. If you are a winning player try to only do max cashouts as opposed to smaller ones, and try to avoid depositing altogether. An example would be a player that averages $1K per month in profit.....he should try to do 5 max cashouts per year as opposed to 12 $1K cashouts. The site is factoring all of this into their analysis. You are a client of the site....sometimes businesses have to "fire" customers if they become unwieldy or generate too much expense for the business.

My 2 cents....

Currently there really isn't any desire for Merge to pick up ROW players because they don't need to. Merge caters to US sportsbetters. But if Merge were to find itself in a sink or swim situation, I think that they might choose to more aggressively seek out ROW players.

Yep, ROW (Rest Of World) players are all the players outside the US.
The US has by far the worst players in the world, has the most of them, and the worst regs. Which you would naturally expect based on the online poker climate since BF. Many good American players moved so they can play on international sites, and the fish remained. Many players just said the hell with it and started playing solely live picking up bad habits and leaks and stunting their development as a poker player. Whats left are meh reg players like me. I can beat Small Stakes and most mid stakes games but if I played even 100NL on Stars I really doubt I could win. Players are just too good, too trained and skilled. Also the US sites are now limiting tables, Bodog and Carbon. That makes it even easier as it makes the reg to fish ratio better.

More population, more money, and more exposure to poker= more fish. For the same reasons+ the ones you listed= more of the top tier players as well.

I pray we have a US only poker site. It'd be a ****ing gold mine and not have pros from 3rd world countries getting rich playing microstakes.
This this this. I want online legislation too, and it would be cool to have pokerstars in the US, but not if its ROW vs their existing player pool.

I have a reliable source that indicated they will be rubbing all of the money from confiscated vip points all over their titties. All over them.

Perhaps they should not have pre-announced their intent then, so as to have more to rub. I used all of mine, so no rubbing of points from me will be occurring.

And you say this based on recently playing 100nl on stars? Because if you haven't I don't see how you can have an opinion on the toughness of stars current games. Yes there are more nitty grinders there, but there is also way more table selection.

I dont really get all the talk about merge being some fish paradise. Based on my experience the msnl games there are not any softer than the other sites available to us players. There are time the games are really good but that's the same on any site. There are also many times I open up merge and the tables look dreadful so I don't even play. Maybe I'm just a huge fish though

I do not agree with this at all, softest site atm hands down. On average I'm sure the games are tougher at Stars, but with game selection I'm sure they are still definitely beatable. I can't talk about all the midstake games, primarily 1-2, but have played a bit 2-4 and 3-6. It's not uncommon at Merge to have 3 people at your table with 40vpip+.
