Whoa, you converted a wire to a check and received the check by today! Holy crap that was fast...maybe I should just contact B-Dog and have them convert my wire into a check??? My wire is taking FOREVER....not to mention the funds aren't safe from the fatty stubby grubby fingers of my soon to be ex-wife...

Wow, Cobalt. Still seeking some sort of confirmation that you got your dates right. You converted a wire into a check and got the check 4 days later?? How long did it take to convert the wire to a check, was that just a phone call to b-dog or did that take any time?

My wife has gone completely off the deep end. Calling the cops on me without provocation and taking all my money and kids. She has access to the account where b-dog is wiring the money and being the snake that she is, she will somehow get the money before me.

As desperate as I am for some funds, I may have to go the Colbalt route, cancel the wire and get a check Fed-Ex'ed...no way that she access the funds then...

Yup. Last check was 4 days from request to receipt also (9/2 to 9/6). I sent them an e-mail on 9/22 with wiring info and said that if it didn't work (I'd tried 3 different banks) to convert it to a check. Received an e-mail the same day saying they'd converted it. So I dunno if the speed was only related to the method failing or if they can convert it if the wire still has a chance of going through.

Well, I hemmed and I hawwed. Then I realized the truth. How pissed off would I be at myself if I let my greedy ex-wife get her hands on my $4500. I would be super-duper pissed and very very bummed. That and the fact that my last check by courier came quick, as did Cobalt's, and the decision was easy. I called BoDog and had them convert my wire of $4500 to a $3000 and a $1500 check.

Both chicks I talked to at customer service sounded heavily russian or something. I could barely understand either one of them. The supervisor kept telling me that one of the two checks would be charged $50, I think it was the first one. You know what though, I don't even care. The checks get here quick and there is virtually zero chance my wife can get her hands on it. Peace of mind is well worth the $50...as long as they aren't bodog's special "rubber checks"...

Keeping my fingers crossed,

One last question, Cobalt. Or anyone who has the answer. What are BoDog's checks like these days? My last one was from a Canadian Bank, can't remember the name, but it cashed in my bank account. The problem is, thanks to the ex-wife, and I going to have to get a new bank account with BofA, so they may actually hold the fundage until the full check clears since it will be a new account?? I dunno...hopefully it's not one of those funky asian checks I've been hearing about. I don't want to explain using some weird asian check as my first deposit into a new account...yikes!

It's my understanding that a lot of the checks have been coming from Asian banks. If you are asked, just say that you do freelance/consulting work over the internet with international companies.

Yeah, I was gonna go with freelance internet advertising work. I mean how is the bank really gonna know? It would be nice to get it a 'known' bank, but I'll take it as long as it cashes. Are these asians checks going through or are any of them bouncing. Like I said, I've only had one check through BoDog, and it was Canadian and cashed....wheeeeeeee.......

I think the days of having checks written on "known" US based bank accounts are mostly a thing of the past, but still happen. For the most part, all checks seem to be clearing, however it's somewhat hit or miss. The overwhelming majority of them seem to cash fine without any incident.

Yeah, I remember a year or so prior to black Friday, I used to get checks from Poker Stars all the time issued out of Wells Fargo....Easy Peasy. Then, P-Stars and Tilt started doing direct bank transfers and those were quick and even easier! Damn DOJ had to go messing everything up! Damn, I miss the P-Stars days. Classy organization too, refunding all the players money promptly (I think I got the $500 or so that was in my P-Stars account with a month or so of Black Friday)....never did get my $12 out of Tilt...I guess not many players got their Tilt money. Glad I averted that disaster.

Come to think of it, I think I actually OWE Tilt like $200. They gave me a couple of $100 credits without ever takin' any cash out of my account. No wonder they went broke...Wrong thread to talk about those dudes tho.

Spoad,
You cancelled ur bank wire this deep into the transaction. Why?I thought you were around the 10th business day. Are the wires taking forever or are they have a problem with it?

Cobalt,
Are you having trouble with bank wire? Did they send you an email saying that they couldnt send you a wire. Was the wire approved and you decided to change your mind?

Frozen Deck,

Yeah, I am on my 9th business day today. B-Dog says there processor has already sent it over to my bank, so funds should be in there tomorrow morning. The problem is, that account is a joint account that I share with the ex. She has just as much access to it as I do. If the funds were to appear in that account, I would be in a foot-race to the bank. Its an issue totally un-related to Bodog. The financial services department is indicating that wire has already been sent to my account.

I am heading to the bank right now to see if they can expidite posting of the funds so I don't have to have a foot-race with my wife to the bank....this might really suck. I guess I will use the "I am an internet entreprenuer story" and see what happens?

Yeah. Last bank wire that I tried in August said it "processed", but I never got the funds and took a number of weeks to get resolved (they did send me a replacement check pretty quickly). When I attempted another one this month, they wanted a different bank account to wire into since the previous BOA one didn't work. Apparently BBVA Compass wouldn't work either since they go through BNY on international wires. My online banking doesn't accept international wires. And then Chase/WaMu didn't work either. I told them to just convert it to check after that. Guess I could try a couple of more banks eventually.

spoad, perhaps I've been lucky, but in 7 years, I've never had a Bodog check bounce.

Thanks

Ive had one bad check but it was a long time ago and they refunded my the fees and re-issued a new one. I heard that they will only wire to certain banks. But it never takes this long. Usually its a few days

Hey Guys,

I went to the bank today to open a seperate account from my ex-wife. If and when the Bodog funds arrive, I can instantly transfer them to the new account and keep them from the wife, that is the good news.

The bad news is that I think BoDog is blowing a little smoke up my azz. I have talked to their customer service department numerous times over the past few days. Initially, the said they would convert the wire into a check. Then, they sent me an email, saying that they would do so after the 10th business day had passed (Thursday morning). They also wanted a bank statement printout emailed to them (no biggie). The customer service department was virtually guarentee-ing me that the funds would be there by Thursday morning at the latest.

Here is the problem with that theory. I have a pretty good friend in the banking business who is also a senior in Finance at my school, Sacramento State. I am a senior in Accounting. Anyways, he explained to me that with International Wires the hold up is at the Fed Reserve Bank. Apparently, all international wires first are sent to the FRB for approval. Once approved by the FRB, then the funds are released to the appropriate american bank. The american bank will then show the funds pretty much instantly. My friend who has a long history of working in the banking industry explained that international wires typically take 5-10 business days to clear the FRB, but sometimes take as long as 20 or more business days.

What this all means, is that supposing that B-Dog notified their processors immeadiately and then the processor immeadiately sent the wire (all this within' a day or two), there is still no way that bo-dog could really guarentee the delivery time of the wire, unless they have alot of data indicating that the current FRB release time for wires is in the 5-10 period, which they may have. My banking friend said there really is no way to know.

Either way, I feel a little bit snubbed by B-Dog because their customer service rep agreed to cancel out the wire and send a check. They renegged on that and then sent an email pretty much stating that funds would almost certainly be available by X-date...my banking friend stated there is really no way anyone could reliably make such a guarentee....

I will keep you guys posted on this as I am checking my bank pretty much round the clock hourly....

Amount: $4500
Method: Wire
Request Date: 9/8
Approval Date: 9/14 (there were deposits pending)
Current Date: 9/27 (no funds yet)!

Requested initially Sunday evening...

Got my tracking # today and this one is coming via Fedex, so thankfully I don't anticipate any more trouble with ACTUALLY receiving the check lol... Will update once it's here and once it clears.

Have the bank wire been taking long than usual? I requested a bank wire on 9/19 and a direct bank transfer on 9/22. Usually, it would have been here by now. When I have been using the dbt, it takes a few days. Seeing if anyone else have had troubles

The last check I got in August was for $650, and it arrived about 8 days after I requested it. It did cash, so that was good. I am in California, but that shouldn't make much of a different in Fedex deliveries. I am on business day 10 (14 actual days) of waiting on a wire for $4500. This is my first time doing a wire and I am a little impatient, myself...
