Well this is the thing. If someone really cares about balancing timing tells then they can think for 15 seconds every time they put money in the pot so all the time they are in a pot they are balanced. They don't need to balance their folds pre-flop though as you don't mind if another person has a read like "That was an insta-muck, so maybe 72o as I've also seen him think for 10 secs and fold" - it doesn't matter as you're not in the pot anymore for them to exploit what they learnt.

I just want to say I played with Cristos in the Main for 9 hours yesterday, and he didn't once take even close to 15 seconds to act on his hand preflop. He admitted that some days are much slower, but he seemed like a nice guy about it. He also seemed to employ a very unorthodox preflop strategy, one where I could see his taking a bit more time actually be something of real use. I told him after reading this thread, I was extremely disappointed.

So you mean AFTER he caught a ****load of heat for purposefully playing slow he no longer plays quite as slow? Sounds like a stand up guy.

No... it was 8-10x, I would say not the strategy for me, but I dont really care how others decide to play. Also he wasn't speeding up for anyone as far as he claimed, he just said some days he has more decisions then others and it's just the way it is. I played with Jon Pham many times, this was nothing.

Sounds like a fail on the part of Klodnicki, who has a good enough rep to productively "take a stand" against egregious tankers, to pick his spot based on an opponent's rep rather than how long he was actually taking that day.

(Or Cristos outright lied in the notes pic linked above. Who knows.)

The solution is not a shot clock. It's social pressure. Make it unbearable at the table for these scumbags. Make the game terrible and uncomfortable. Call them out. Tell them they are scum. Ignore them in the media, in side bets, in swapping. Slow roll them at every opportunity. Ostracize them at every possible occasion.
