It wasn't just a nice find for them either. I know the son of the people who own Bainbridges auctioneers. They actually found that vase when they were hired to do a house clearance and they made £8.6M in buyers commission and £7.5m in sellers commission for a total of £16m (before tax of about 40%), the people who sold the vase made £36m before tax.

You are clueless. Betting 5 mill s week does nt mean he makes a 5 million $$ bet every week and wins. He is prolly bearding for a syndicate and making 2-6% a week roi . One only has to win slightly more than 50% w/ reduced juice. It's all about volume at this level of the food chsin

Have fun with a 40% tax rate. Not to mention that baccarat is far and away the most popular game for the random "fish" so you might be sitting at the table by yourself more often then you think.

I think you misunderstand the tax regime in Macau. There is no tax on gambling winnings for the player - the casinos pay ~40% of their profit to the government as a gaming tax. Also there's plenty of poker tables running every night of the week.

Have you been to Macau or are you just talking about things you don't understand for entertainment?

I feel my experience reporting Division I and High School sports, as well as reporting on poker and playing full time, make myself a solid option for this job.
cool.

This game should have surpassed what has always stood out to me as a remarkable record in the poker world, the 3 day session that (most likely) resulted in the murder of Arnold Rothstein.

There are numerous accounts, saying that Rothstein lost between $300,000 and $500,000, which, in 1928 numbers equates to nearly $5,000,000 today. This can easily be disputed, but I always considered it the largest single session loss in the history of poker. If Dwan had a day where he won close to $9,000,000 in a HU game the previous biggest loss in poker history is dwarfed.

Obviously there could have been sessions in various parts of the world or in Bobby's room where an individual lost more than $5,000,000 in a 72 hour span playing poker, but to my knowledge they are undocumented.

Ten years ago it would have seemed impossible that a 24(?) year old would be one of the worlds biggest gamblers.

well with N Korea bombing S Korea. Looks like its possible the US and allies may go to war with China. Typical, just when the sick railing action starts.

but then again, dwan sold a lot of action against the punk looking blonde haired kid who took him for a few mil, so, i might retract that comment if it was known he had less than half of his action, which, might be an understatement. i've read the professor the banker and the suicide king and followed the HU matches but i dont think anyone took beal (or beal took them) for roughly $9M in one session. at this point its all perogative anyways, undoubtedly one of the top three biggest cash games/wins/losses of all time.

Prerogative?

Have I been spelling and using that word wrong my whole life?

I thought that when you describe a group of people - posters', players' etc... you put an apostrophe after the last letter.
