Mike's life is one big poker game: stealing kind hearted people's money by deceit during the day and stealing blinds by deceit at night.

Mike's life is one big piece of ****: taking money from his parents in the early years, taking money from his employers in the middle years, and taking money from strangers in airports now. Who has he paid back?

I have been following this thread since deadspin and have had the opportunity to speak to Mr. Borovetz. It was very awkward at first but i met him in a hotel for a conference i was at the last few days. he said he had been staying in the hotel for serveral weeks.

I figured that he is an open book already so approaching him would be okay. I asked him if he was micheal borovetz and he said that he was. I apologized for being forward but told him i recognized him from his recent message board story. I told him i wished him the best and that i found his story very intriguing. He opened up a bit once he figured i was not harboring any negativity towards him.

We talked on several occasions while i was there for my conference and he was always kind and eager to have a conversation about anything, Micheal is a real talker.

My conference is over and I am home so i felt like i could share this without detailing the where and when.

Overall Micheal seemed like a decent guy who is clearly battling a disease. I cant say he doesnt deserve the heat he had gotten for his transgressions but once i spent some time with him it was hard to think of him as a giant scumbag, he made many many poor decisions but seems like a decent human being.

Finally, a semblance of a new development.

At risk of prying, where was and what was the nature of this conference? Furthermore, was Mike an attendee of said conference, or was it just that he happened to be at this hotel?

Here's why I ask: if he actually was staying there, it seems this would work against jman's case for theft/larceny charges because it would take the idea of false pretense out of play. i.e. he asked for $200 for a hotel, and he used it for that, therefore no theft or larceny took place.

Mike might be smarter than I'm giving him credit for: he has some history of paying some people back, and he probably has evidence of hotel receipts. Both would appear to (again, I'm not a legal expert) give him strong reasonable doubt against any theft/larceny charges filed against him.

Spoiler:
Also, in before Gold Wire is accused of being another Mike-created account as a way to cover his tracks.

Thank you. What city was this conference in?

Which disease became clear? Scamming or gambling?
Did the hotel have a casino?

No, he was staying there on his own accord, not with the conference. It was a health oriented conference.

I'm not trying to being an ******* and disclose his location. Micheal has been (as far as we know) open and honest about his situation. It wouldn't be fair for me to come on here and say what hotel he is in or even that city. I will say that the hotel is not in Vegas, AC, or any "gambling" city. There are Indian casinos within a 30 minute drive and some card clubs around the area.

I did ask if he had been playing poker in town anywhere and he did mention taking a trip or two to the reservations.

gambling.

I in no way want to come off as defending the scamming. I still think he is a pretty sleazy guy for the stuff he has done to others but talking to him and seeing him as a real person and not just a bunch of paragraphs adds a little humanity.

The guy has issues but don't we all in some form or another?? How is his behavior at the hotel?? Did you hang out with the guy or is the hotel small enough where you saw him all the time?? Did Mike win at the reservations??

He said he left the conference already, why would he feel the need to take photos??

How was he paying for the hotel that he was staying at for several weeks?

Wilbury. Note the several weeks. His scam involves needing a room for a night, not several weeks.

Maybe he won some money prior to his stay so he could afford the hotel. A few weeks is a long stay though so he must have some kind of discounted rate or won a decent amount of money.

Mike is becoming a full fledged celebrity now. People recognizing him at some random hotel because of the deadspin story he is achieving the status he has always wanted.

Stay Strong Mike, I'm pulling for you.

OK, I haven't posted in this thread for a couple of weeks now, and I was done with it, but I decided to come back today and read what I missed. What a mistake. Seriously Mike, it's so ****ing obviously that this is you. Deny it all you want, but anyone with half a brain can see right through your BS. A full fledged celebrity, huh? It's crazy how another new person on 2+2 just "happens" to run into Mike, then starts an account on here, and now Mike is a "celebrity". Wow, what are the odds??? Does anyone really believe that Mike gets banned on 2+2 and then doesn't start several new accounts?
08-28-2014 , 12:28 AM
Like I said, a mistake to come back to this circus. If you want to answer me Mike, or frog, PM me, your multiple aliases are ridiculous.

I figured he was using his 3k he won from the WSOP or the 5k he said he had during an earlier post. With his habits that money could already be gone but i was not in a position to ask him how he was paying or how much his rate was.

I was paying $199 which was the conference rate which was a slight discount over the normal rate for the time i was there.

I didnt get the vibe that he relished being recognized. He didnt come across as wanting to be a celebrity. I think he probably didnt want the hotel staff to know to much about his history (defrauding an inkeeper).

The hotel was very large, over 1300 rooms, so flying under the radar was possible.

So you figured he was using the 5k he said he had from an earlier post, huh? So let me get this straight...you read all 4000 posts on here before you "happen" to run into Mike, you remember how much he said he had from an earlier post (which I don't remember at all, and I've been involved in this thread), you don't start or own an account on 2+2, and you just happen to run into Mike, then start an account on here. Then froggy chimes in (who also started an account since Mike has been banned) and tells us what a celebrity Mike is, since he's now being recognized all over the country. Ok, got it, just trying to keep the "story" straight. Ok Mike, have a nice life. This has become beyond ridiculous. Oh, and I'll wait for my flaming from fish taco next.
