Again, I've been pretty measured in my posting ITT. But I think it is pretty important to show objectively from a victim's POV how much impact Mike's actions have had. He had the opportunity to come here and we've heard his story. Now we're hearing the victims' stories.

Frankly I'm pretty surprised how many stories we are hearing. And these are just from victims that have taken the time to post their experiences to sites that these guys have found. Who knows how many other victims were too embarrassed or didn't feel like or didn't know where to post their stories? Not to mention victims that don't realize they were conned or the ones who didn't remember the details such as Mike's full name. Heck, he might have several aliases for all we know. I'd guess that perhaps 1% of victims take the time to post about scams like this.

Wow great find. Surprised that he was an honors student. I would think that one would have to have a great work ethic to be a chemical engineering honors student. So, where did all his drive go? (or does he still show a great work ethic in his scamming lifestyle).

But I don't think he ever went to jail for the airport scam. Cashing bad checks and not paying for the hotel room is what he got in trouble for. Has he ever even been arrested for the airport/hotel scams he's been running? He does it so openly, it's crazy how he's been doing it for so long without facing any consequences for it.

Yes, he was arrested this year at LAX. I posted this on post #29 of this thread.

Whoops... I must have missed that. Has anything come of this arrest? Is there a trial date?

It just seems like he's been running this scam for a long time but he only ever got jail time for the checks and the hotel thing.

And it's pretty obvious that he's still out scamming people.

In your post you do not say what Mike did. With that said, if you showed your post to people that have no idea of Mikes story/scam, These people would guess by the tone of your post Mike was arrested for a crime on the level of strong armed robbery, home invasion or the like….His actual scam/crime is no where near that level...

So the victims aren't "real" victims because he didn't put a gun in their face nor enter their home.

Gotcha.

Don't know. It was just a misdemeanor so I'm guessing it was just like a night in jail and the end result was probably not much worse than a speeding ticket.

He uses his own name and shows a valid driver's license. He even acknowledges he does that on purpose in case the airport police question him.

I am sure he gets arrested on trespassing/nuisance rather than theft.

Typical 2+2 thread. Topic is introduced, posters tell OP how stupid he is, then for the next ~200 pages posters tell each other how stupid they are. Meanwhile the topic of the post goes on scamming others. Yea team.

I agree. He should have started off the post with a detailed explanation of what mike did because the 500 other explanations might not cover it if someone opens the thread and decides to start reading 3000 posts in. That person may also decide to not read the entire post and just jump to wild conclusions because none of those complaints random people made about Mike scamming them explained whats going on and made just have been posted by clever 2+2 trolls.

Wow can’t believe this thread is still going! I stopped following just after he went to his first GA meeting and some bbq. Has anything happened since then?

What does any of this have to do with what I posted? I'm guessing your first 14,000 post are not any better than this one…..

Incredible, Borrowitz was the only one smart enough to quit his endless posting.

You forgot to mention the posters that tell the OP how stupid he is and then 10 pages later feel sorry for him and start defending him. Particularly looking at Grindpokerallday

Grindpokerallday should be renamed Troll2+2allday.

I've no idea where he gets the energy.

Troll all you want dingleberry. There are plenty of homeless in my town who don't beg, but are still on the street corners (including ones with gas stations), along the river, at the Salvation Army, and in their camps. They are there in boom times and recessions. Bindlestiffs, hobos, crackheads, schizos and alkies. Anchorage had as many as Little Rock. I've seen them my whole life, and my old man, his old man too.

Talk to a few, they are pretty interesting people. But you'll not do that, afraid you are: They'll hurt me or give me cooties.

Mike approaches you. He gives you the story. Promises to pay you back. You "loan" him the $200-300 for plane ticket and hotel room. Mike walks over to the counter and buys a plane ticket..then jumps in a cab , heads to hotel...buys hotel room for the night. You never hear from him again.

Do you still hate his guts? Is that still a scam/con?
No, because it's not fraudulent. He has used the money exactly what he said it was for. Now you just have an outstanding loan from him of $300.

I'll use your logic this way:

A stock market guru promises you big returns, says he will invest your money in the stock market. You give him $10,000. He invests in the stock market, and his decisions have horrible timing and horrible consequences; he loses your entire $10,000 while investing in the stock market.

Wait, same stock market guru promises you big returns, says he will invest your money in the stock market. Tells you he invested it and lost it, but, in reality blows your $10,000 buying himself a nice Rolex watch. Never invested a penny of your money.

Do you see the difference???

Agree. He just screwed you on the loan.
