From the very beginning I was almost sure that most of the "his english is too good" have been made by americans.

Just the fact that 99% of you are not able to write a single sentence in a different language does not mean than everyone else in the world do the same.

Children start to learn few words in english at 3 today and alla of them are going to study it until they are 19. Most of them, lately, will go to uni where they have another english course.

In the midtime, from 14 to 19, the waste majority of them study another language.

As you can clearly see from my post, english skills in european people (i'm italian and i studied german and spanish) aged 30 aren't good enough, but youngs ones are getting better and better

Wow, a well in all but name
03-03-2011 , 11:49 PM
do we have a WELL here?

WELL WHAT ?!?

Glad to have you here Jose. Please join pokerstars and play isildur1

Also, fwiw, I thought it was fake when I read it. I wouldnt get upset about it. You should think of it as a massive compliment that your life seems too good to be true. There is really no greater compliment than disbelief.

especially for those of us who have played 800k hands and are still at 50NL, we find it tough to believe that you are at nosebleeds already :P

If it's fake, level worked on me (as of...page 3...).
03-04-2011 , 01:33 AM
I think the original post was fake and so is this post. Its just a giant level.

I don't know you at all, but after reading your story, I would like to seriously say that I am proud of you man. You deserve it all. I play 1/2 2/4 HU part time while I go to school and you are a great example to me and I'm sure everyone else, that you can work hard and reach the top. Fantastic work.

I think that Jose Macedo probably is a real person, and that's why DIH would take prob bets that he exists.

However, I think that his written story is made up, which doesn't match the personality of Jose Macedo and it is a clear level by DIH, Jungleman etc. Actually, the original post has bits and pieces of the biographies of both Haseeb and Jungleman:

1. The $250K loss to a friend = Haseebs prob bet with the Ashman
2. The board with the 4 pictures = I am pretty sure I heard in a poker interview a while ago with either Jungleman or some other nosebleeds master, that they had such a board in their dorm room with the exact same pictures

Pretty intricate level, though. Props to those guys :P

what is it with people in this thread,so scared about being levelled that they can't accept someones story when the have basically removed all doubt about the story?does he really need to skype every 2+2er to get random peoples approval, play him hu,or take one of the numerous prop bets offered if you are that sure it is a level,or just grow up and accept you dnt believe it and move on!

ur the man José!

u inspired me big time! love ur dedication and passion for the game.

looking forward to seeing u in action, any plans of playing at pokerstars/ftp?

I really love the psychological part of this whole thread. If you study each poster with few post on this subject deep enough, you could basically see their IQ range.

Now thanks to Jose, I know I need to work harder on my poker skills, because there is lots of cash to be made even though I missed the boom years when a monkey was making decent living at this.

Olá José!

Read your OP and found it very inspiring. A great read. Thank you for sharing your story.

I'm sorry to hear that your father died when you were a small kid. I have a little boy and just the thought of leaving him behind makes me sad. Must have been very tough for you and your mother.

Why do/did you dream about a house on Hawaii??? That sounds very weird to me.

Why can't you share your screen name? Do you really have "lawyers"?

I have very little time to play poker (kid, work, married life etc.). How would you approach poker if you had little time? What would you concentrate on? Which stakes do you think you could reach?
03-04-2011 , 05:39 AM
I'm going to go with the Haseeb has too much free time or is doing a prob bet theory.

You are confusing Holland and Germany, Holland subtitles everything. And yes, this is IMO the most important factor. People in countries where movies and TV series are subtitled speak much better english than the people in the countries where everything is dubbed. Germany, France, Spain, Italy are countries where everything is dubbed and those people speak poor english in general.

So, you either win, or you don't lose?

Acho um pouco esquisito isso...

Impressionar?humm....

Desejo-te as maiores felicidades, apesar de eu não acreditar na tua história.

There are only two possibilities:

a) super gifted
b) faking it

you overestimate European school system and tv influence. General level in southern europe is laughable at best btw., and of much higher standards in scandanavian countries.

Didn't read much of it, but his vocabulary is too rich to seem legit to me... unless he is a true prodigy, which certainly cannot be excluded 100% but not very likely
