Unless anything comes directly from the Tapie camp, or DOJ, or whatever's left of the husk over at Pocket Kings, it's no more than unfounded speculation or rumor, and that goes to both sides of the deal-or-no-deal.
It's not all speculation. Ever heard of Six degrees of separation. Six degrees of separation refers to the idea that everyone is on average approximately six steps away, by way of introduction, from any other person on Earth (wikipedia). With so many pokerplayers there are a lot of friends, or friends of friends, of people who are involved in the negotiations. It ain't much but still you can draw a picture of what is going on.

Best news IMO is that Tapie is still working on it, just the man hours alone is a big investment, so from that perspective I like our chances.

Meh,

Dont trust business men. Trust me... If FTP has an horrific launch and fails to attract any new/old customers, if it costs him less to close the company than it does to keep it running untill it hits the rail again, he will close it. Basically, he wont p*ss away good money after a bad investment -

But... since he is still interested in investing, he must feel that he has a (good) chance to turn it arround. So all is not bad news... (I hope) (Still thinking positivly)

What I find strange - we have yet to hear anything official from Tapie (I personally would have had the hype train running 4/5 months ago)... Granted, he will have some degree of NDA, but once (if) the deal is signed, I do hope that he intereacts with the poker communty somewhat. EG: Come to 2+2 and do a Q+A session. That way, we all can b*tch to our hearts content to him and ask that FTP 2 give us all a million pounds for being so patient........................................... ...... Or some geneous re-sign up bonus.

When are you gonna let me Tapie that?

But of the (say) dozen major steps that would be necessary to close a deal of this complexity, 11 are done. Some didn't happen as quickly as we might have hoped/expected, but they DID happen.
For the love of god this.

Who in God's name would buy a company for $1B that in its entire lifetime netted slightly more than $100M?

What drugs are you on?

You do realise this is a stupid post, right?

What a company has netted lifetime of course is correlated with the company value, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a high correlation and will have a very wide variation.

A company that has netted $10M lifetime can easily be worth a couple of billion, or a company that is running at a loss can be worth 1.65 billion $, like that one site, Youtube.
03-26-2012 , 08:18 PM
are there going to be any customer funds on the site when it recommences? i.e. i wonder if they'll give some option to leave your recovered funds on the site (obv. non-US players). cause it's gonna be slow getting a whole bunch of customers up and going

i'll be very surprised if this happens, but hopefully i'm very surprised

So first you call my post stupid, and then you agree with me.

Forgive me, I didn't bother reading the rest of what you wrote.

I think you don't understand correlation.

If you want to take as gospel, anything that goes through six degrees of the old schoolroom game of "telephone", go ahead.

A 4th or 5th hand "source" isn't even a source, it's just someone passing something they heard (or read), from someone else who only got that information from something they heard (or read), and so forth.

There's a reason hearsay ain't admitted in court, and while this certainly ain't court, the very reason hearsay isn't admissible applies here. It is not possible to test the veracity of the hearsay -- gotta go to the direct first party source.

My French source says the deal will be announced by 7pm GMT Wednesday. I trust him. If you can't trust the French, who can you trust? I mean my god man he's speaking God's language.

Here is what he says:

Just thinking out of the box. The zoom drop was pretty much a bomb for us players. But why would they drop it now?

I take Zoom as a good sign of FTP coming back. If anyone knows whats going on, Its Pokerstars.
