connect the dots people... where do you think Wendeen's source came from?
I don't know.

I do know that this happened over a week ago and it is public knowledge. There was discussion ITT in regards to the content of the motion to dismiss (MTD) and it's implications. Yes some actually read it.

Then of course there was a motion by the DOJ in response to the MTD.

I couldn't find anything on that with your link so I googled searched the quote and found it here:
http://www.pocketfives.com/articles/...laints-587537/

Published on Jul 11th, 2012 and it looks promising, I never read this...
Anyone with a legal background that can shed more light on what this means? Can we get stars back? 0.o

I wonder how much money Wendeen has locked up on FTP. She seems more eager to please people than she is to protect their interests.
That was a lot more inflammatory than I had intended. I apologize.

I don't believe Wendeen is doing anything malicious, and I feel certain that she would like to see everyone get paid.

I do, however, think that sometimes journalism requires some discretionary considerations. And referring to her source as 'Deep Throat' -- as if this were Mark Felt and the Watergate break-in, or Daniel Ellsberg and The Pentagon Papers -- is a bit of a reach. Her source is not leaking out of a sense of patriotic duty or to correct an injustice. The source simply can't keep a secret or respect a confidentiality agreement.

The negotiations are being kept confidential because that is the way deals get done. It is inefficient and unproductive to negotiate in public. You don't need to be Warren Buffett or a seasoned politician to understand this -- this is Business 101. No one here (including me) has any idea what sorts of special considerations are in play. You can be certain that there are people who would NOT like to see this deal get done. And giving them an opening to interfere is not a good idea.

A leak is much more likely to disrupt a deal than it is to keep it moving forward. This is nearly universally true.

I don't think Wendeen is lying, or that her source is bad. Quite the opposite, I think she's telling the truth, and I think her source is credible. I also think her source is immature and careless, and has not seen enough deals go bad at the last minute.

Isai is a smart guy whose interests are aligned with the people in this thread. He let his guy correct the misinformation a week or two ago. He's not letting his guy say a word now. I trust that's for a good reason.

I think in her rush to provide comfort, Wendeen might be overlooking some downsides to printing the story. Sometimes good intentions have bad outcomes. On the other hand, her political experience certainly trumps mine and makes me wonder if I'm not missing something. If someone wants to try to persuade me that the leak is good for the deal (not for the players' comfort, but for the actual deal), I'm listening.

And I still hope I end up sending flowers.

Thursday is my oldest and most special cat's 20 year and 10 month birthday. He has gotten sushi ( actually sashimi ) for the last 6 nights.

I would appreciate it if those who have the ability to make a deal would do so fairly soon so that my cat can continue to live the lifestyle that he has become accustomed to.

I hope I was not being too ambiguous with the words fairly and soon. How about this Thursday for his birthday? That would be nice.

Thank you.

lol...

My point was that a law firm representing Pokerstars happens to be Clients of Wendeen Eolis Enterprises.

From her latest article:
"The breaking story emanated from a highly knowledgeable source, who allowed the word to get out, on the condition it could not be traced back. Before pulling the trigger, I hesitated for a moment, thinking through the worst case scenario—of being duped, betrayed and set up for a giant burn at the stake. There was absolutely no rational basis for such concern. "

How can one be so sure? Her 'source' is very close to the situation.

There are 2 sides to the pending deal... PS/DoJ...only 1 of which would say they are 100% certain a deal/settlement has been reached.. and that is the side settling or making the deal.

It's only a matter of time.

If it was leaked on the condition it could not be traced back, then clearly they failed if you're correct.

As well as the obligatory shippage, 20% more run good is on it's way sir, lets see a result for the awesome kitty kat, and SOON! (you are awesome, sir)

I hate to be cliche but like, can someone, somewhere, just magically pull someTHING out of their arse so I can see NVG go skitzo.

(already used one-time, otherwise, it would go in right about here.)

COME ON FTP.

Okay, fire away. Name exactly one party that would have a huge motivation for this deal to not get completed.

The first thing a lawyer learns is how to keep a confidence. If this leak originates from a lawyer, or other employee of a law firm, and it can be traced to them, their employment will almost certainly be terminated.

1. Land based casinos that came late to the internet poker party.
2. ROW/EU internet competitors that don't want to see the dominant player get even stronger.

The first rule of Fight Club is...you do not talk about negotations. The second rule of Fight Club is...you DO. NOT. TALK. about negotiations. And the third rule of Fight Club is, if this is your first night, you have to buy FTP.
