So that all the gazillionaires can buy back in and pad the pros edge, except none of them did and the pros did most of the rebuying. How much edge you can have with 12 bigs is debatable IMO

Maybe no one was concerned about the historic significance of the trophy and people with money wanted to spend more? Let's say there are 100 or so people on the entire planet who would play for $100k or more buyins. Do the rest of us need to form up a posse to make sure they're doing it right? Maybe those of us on the Internet who care could carefully speculate on people's financial standing and decide who gets to play once vs who can fire multiple times. Despite concerns, DN and Ike seem to have come out fine. If they had both bubbled, I assume they could have found couches to sleep on, if needed.

As an amateur tournament player, I think unlimited re-entry tournaments are detrimental to the game.

But these SHR events are not designed for amateurs, so I guess let them have their fun.

yea agreed for the most part. reentries should be limited to highrollers and superhighrollers

lol the outside viewpoint is pretty hilarious; you guys are acting like Ike and Negreanu are just yoloing their entire rolls in this tourney (and many obviously sell action although it seems like Negreanu only did on his last bullet for this one). Hint: BRM is a function of your BR, not the $ figure

Pretty sure the rebuys from 05-07 were not raked (except possibly in the form of pocketed rebuys).

I highly doubt it.

ivey was making 800k a month to make tv commercials and play on FTP. If you consider they are both probably PR #1 for each company (at least when FTP was alive pre BF), so it's not outside the stretch of the imagination.

I imagine Negreanu makes 2-4 million a year in endorsements alone, plus possible stake deals.
