It's sick, the amount of lose-lose situations abounding. Harry Reid is not the poker community's friend, this I know.
It doesn't matter whether you feel like this or not. What matters is your willingness to express what you desire Congress to do. The biggest hindrance to democracy is everyday people who decide it's no longer attainable.

Forget the corruption, party lines, and flip-flopping. Just do everything you can as an individual to inform all leaders that you want to have the freedom to play poker on the internet.

It's much better than just walking away from the whole thing with frustration imo.

Does anyone have any insight on when we would actually know if an attachment to this bill is going take place? Is it something that we would know days in advance or could it be a last minute addition like the UIGEA was. I know that no one knows but maybe one is more likely then the other.

Well Obama is going to announce his budget tomorrow which is basically another stimulus and no substantial cuts. There will be a huge outcry in the media from both sides. Then by Wed I guess someone will remind us we have less than two weeks to get the payroll tax cut extended which is just a one year deal.

Personally I doubt you will hear anything and Reid better be careful because many moderate Dems are going to lose it when they hear Obama's budget request. To try to attach something as hot button as online gaming in another bill would be the worst thing he could do. There just isn't enough time to debate both.

Report: Reid, Kyl Make Internet Poker Deal; What About Tribes?

Several sources have told GGB News that a phone call from Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval (l.) has informed top-level gaming execs that a deal has been reached to legalize online poker. But what about the role of tribes in this new industry? A Senate committee last week heard testimony.

This is a article on GGBNews.com today, anyone got a subscription to give details?

OMG, how many times is this going to be asked? Oh, a dozen times every single online poker regulation thread?

Stars is not coming back for a VERY VERY VERY long time if Ever...no way they have even a 5 year window of re-entry while the US sites get up and running.

It's also the reason it will meet the same fate as the last time he tried this.

It will go down in flames.

The last time he tried this he had Kyl fighting against it. This time around he and Kyl are working together on it.

Kyl is a lame duck and has no relevance anymore. It is still a timing problem anyway. There isn't enough time to properly debate and amend the provisions of online poker legality. If Reid does actually try this is will just as equally despicable as the first time he tried and just further cements his legacy as a total politician who cares only about his cronies.

I would love to see the tribes get onboard with this and start up some sites of their own, the more competition the better.

Some of the tribes would love that too, but Reid's bill has a clause that only States which derive $X Billion in yearly revenue can license poker, with X being a level only Nevada hits, NJ was demanding X be lowered to their level, and the NIGC wants them to consider all Indian gaming revenue so that they can offer licenses - but obviously that would defeat the purpose of setting the ceiling.

I was not aware of this clause, seems like a pretty blatantly obvious kickback to Reid's home state. That being said, is there anything stopping tribal groups from applying for a license in Nevada? I'm unsure of what Nevada's policy is as far as giving out licenses goes.

Yes, you have to be a current B&M casino in Nevada for the first two years, which is why the Indians at the hearings keep referring to not giving NV casinos a head start and poker players have no clue what they are talking about.
