It'll become legalized by a guy like Ron Paul who says **** government, let people do what they want. Won't happen until after the next U.S. next election unfortunately when there is a major shakeup no matter who gets elected.

Ron Paul is ****ing crazy but by far the best public speaker out of the other candidates, he always knows exactly what to say and how to say it which is why he has such a loyal fan base that won't change their opinion of him no matter what, even if he says stuff like evolution is a lie or homosexuals should stop being homosexual. To think that any of the candidates will help ipoker is stupid imo.

I think these threads should be kept in leg unless something really really looks good. Not because I don't think it deserves the extra attention, but I think it may be counter productive if these are posted with the hope that it gets more people involved, as enough let downs and it could have the cry wolf affect.

I may be wrong. Maybe this builds momentum and moral. Just a thought though. If anything, maybe a little less sensational title. Either way GG and on to the next

it's not like we went for a dunk and faceplanted, we're shooting half court shots and we just hit the rim!

Yea, I don't really like my comment and think I just got caught up in a few posts towards the end.

Fact is things have changed dramatically and every new opportunity really is a valid sweat. I watched the Senate on Indian Affairs hearing and was pretty pumped to see every single person there either say or act as if this is inevitable. Also, I though Skallagrim did a really sick job in his testimony and if anyone needs a Rocky moment to pump them up, that's what I'd suggest. It'll happen, like winning a large field MTT. Keep getting deep and one of these times you don't lose the big hand on the bubble of the final table and just ship it like it was easy.

Except:
  • $200M seems like a reasonable estimate of what the big 3 were raking in the world; the US market would be smaller;
  • $200M is revenue; only a % of that would go to governments, and most, if not all will go to the states;
  • if money were the only issue, why restrict other forms of i-gaming? the more the better.

Other than that, your post demonstrates the same keen insight the rest of your posts do.

I'm not so sure how much smaller the US market would be. Part of the problem previously was that most average ordinary people thought it was illegal in the US, instead of in a legal gray area.

If the US Gov't said 'hey, it's legal now' and all of the big name casinos got on board and started opening up poker sites online, there would most likely be a giant flood of people. If the sites also ended up not being US only, I'm 100% positive that they would easily and quickly eclipse whatever the previous peak was for income of the big three

Report: U.S. Online Poker Regulation Not in Payroll Tax Bill

A senior Hill staffer confirmed to POLITICO on Wednesday that regulating Internet poker at the federal level will not be part of a tentative deal reached by congressional leaders to extend a payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits. … “Airdropping this into the payroll bill wouldn’t sit well with a whole bunch of people from a process standpoint,” a source familiar with the discussions said, pointing to the current brouhaha unfolding in the Senate over an attempt to fast-track cyber security legislation.

Very disappointed, had a really good feeling about this. I guess we still have hope that maybe nothing has to be done at the federal level w/ the wire act decision and vegas starting the licensing processing.
