His influence on cheating in the poker world is pretty substantial as he has quite a few "horses" doing the same kind of thing.
I remember back in January 2007 at the Goldstrike Casino in Tunica I was playing a $1060 mega(better juice back then) to win a seat into the $10,000 main event. 1 of Men's good buddies, Jimmy Tran was at my table and he had lost 1/2 his stack early on. On the 1st break he goes and chats with his wife Angie(who was also playing) and when he comes back to our table he had a lot more chips than at the start of the break!!! Well I noticed this along with a couple others and as it turns out, Jimmy's wife gave him a bunch of chips she took from her table before the break. I complained and they did an investigation(Jimmy had to sit out along with his wife while the floor reviewed the cameras).
The outcome was ridiculous and echos a statement earlier in this thread by Mr. Lawton - Ken Lambert ackowledged they colluded with each other and disqualified them from the satellite. HOWEVER, and this is a BIG HOWEVER - Lambert REFUNDED THE $1060 BACK TO BOTH JIMMY AND HIS WIFE!!! I mean, WTF was that???? A refund after they are caught cheating???? I was pissed and started arguing with Ken Lambert and some others did as well. Men the Master was observing all of this(probably was coaching them) and he saw how angry I was. Hours later after I won a seat(again back in the day when mega satellites had good structures not like today) Men pulls me aside and starts telling me how much he likes my play and wants to take a BIG PIECE OF ME FOR THE MAIN, LOL. I had never spoken with him in my life and I told him no thanks and walked away.
Trust me, his influence should not be diminished.
Years ago, think my first WSOP, played a mega and was out in the tent, guy at my table was one of Men's boys. The two were talking periodically. I didn't know about the shadiness of Men, just knew he spat out his beer at a final table when they used to televise like 10 WSOP final tables every year, thought he was a ~funny crotchety old man.
His boy takes a hit. We go to break. Come back and after about five to ten minutes he plays his first hand since break and I study his stack which looked more than healthy. Tried to figure out a pot he had won. Couldn't. At time I thought I had to be wrong. Yet, it lingered in my mind and then when I found about "The Master's" true nature a year or two later, I'm pretty sure something dirty happened.
