14 years is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too harsh a sentence in my opinion. Murder is the only crime I think deserving of that length of time behind bars.

You are not a 13 year old girl chatting on msn. It's too*

And yes, I would still think 14 years is too harsh.

Well personally I think we should completely end the war on drugs and legalize and regulate ALL illegal substances. But that's going off on a tangent. So I guess 5-6 years seems very fair.

you.. guess? put it into perspective motivate your "guess" and contrast it to what you think is unfair, and why.

you seem like the kind of guy who just makes up random facts/opinions just to have one(also based on you nitpicking spelling like a bully). but yeah, I "guess" it could be too harsh if it were a first offense. but sometimes you have to make a statement, maybe Saab is that statement. he got caught, there is a max sentence. he knew that, so if he plays the game he can't whine about the sentencing.

I stated that 14 years was too harsh. I don't know the whole story but in my opinion 14 years is too long a sentence for any crime other than murder. It's hard to give an opinion on how long a sentence he deserved when you don't know the whole story. But **** 14 years in jail. That is far too ****ing long. for smuggling 46lbs of coke I think 5 years is long enough..

for all u newbie criminal lawyers out there

Quote:
The Court in MacNeil-Brown[2] identified what a submission on sentencing range should include, as follows:

The range thus nominated must be based on a clearly-articulated view of the gravity of the offence, the relevant sentencing principles and practices, and relevant aggravating or mitigating factors. All of these matters should be referred to in the course of the submission, so that the court understands how the Crown contends that the relevant matters should be brought to bear.

fair point. He couldve just been the unlucky one who was gonna be made an example of. Or the judge was hungry(fun fact, judging prior to lunch are way way harsher than post lunch judging, hungry judges are angry, i read a study on it, its messed up. lol)

Is he berating the table inside too?

How many people think his motor mouth came from getting high on his own supply?

Rare for anyone to get charged with murder here, seems to often be bumped down to manslaughter. Then they get off because they could not have predicted that the one punch they threw could have caused the person to fall to the ground, hit their head and die. So yeah, you're free to go

It doesn't matter if they didn't predict the punch will kill the bloke, With manslaughter u need to prove that the punch delivered caused the fatality & in some cases a contributory punch to a subsequently fatal punch delivered by someone else will land u for manslaughter - doctrine of complicity (group bashings). Your punch if not intended will most likely be considered 'reckless'

Yeah, on the streets by drug dealers, cocaine is usually measured in kilograms, grams, half-grams, etc (metric system) but when someone in the U.S. is busted, the amount they had will be weighed usually in lbs.

Example:
Waterloo man sentenced for selling pounds of crack cocaine:
Officers with the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force seized 4.7 pounds of crack cocaine and two handguns during searches of their home in September 2010.

Second man charged in cocaine case
:
Horacio Encinas-Moreno, 33, of Paramount, Calif., was arrested after a traffic stop in March, where a state trooper seized more than 22 pounds of cocaine, court documents show.

That is because in the U.S. we don't use the metric system (for the most part, unless you are slinging illegal drugs).
